HP iPAQ rx5915 Review
Brighthand.com
Published on: 11/1/2006 8:16 PM
The rx5915 is the first iPAQ designed specifically for a landscape orientation. By default, the system starts up with the directional pad on the right hand side of the screen. If you don't like this orientation, however, among the application buttons along that edge of the case is a button to rotate the screen. Pressing it once switches you to a portrait orientation with the directional pad below the screen and the buttons on the bottom. Keep pressing it, and you'll rotate through all four possible screen orientations, including 180 and 270 degree rotation. ...read the full review

4 of 5 Great Product Tuesday, July 22, 2008
A Customer from Roy, Utah

I am pleased with the iPAQ. It has more features than I was aware of and am happily suprised that it is fairly easy to use. If there is anythjing that you don't know how to use, there are plenty of resources available to help guide you through the process. The GPS works very well. Downloading books etc is very easy and syncing the handheld unit with the computer is very easy. I was pleased with the whole purchasing process and the item arrived when promised. I am pleased with the buy.

4 of 5 PDA function is great and GPS function is average. Wednesday, June 04, 2008
jimkannoox from Chicago, IL
I needed a GPS and was looking at Navigon TomTom and Garmin for the most part. When I saw this product for 100-150 more, with a TomTom navigator, a PDA with WIFI, Office, and a media player, I thought it would be the perfect travel buddy. (pack with the travel assistant, get to the airport via GPS, wait for your plane with the media player or office tools, use the internet via wifi in the airport, track your flight (if you have a window seat) at 450MPH, and then you have a GPS in your new city with the ability to look up things to do via GPS Point Of Interest or via internet and Wifi. I know a lot of people had problems getting signal at first but I guess it depends on where you live. I have no problem getting signal on a cold start but I live near downtown Chicago. Only thing I wish I could get was lifetime traffic (ie Navigon). Guess I could get a subscription via Tomtom.com... for a fee (thumbs down:)

4 of 5 Great for what it is. Monday, August 27, 2007
B S from Tempe AZ
Awesome if you use Pocket PC. The GPS is great but a little slow to lock a signal. Unit frequently overheats in my work van when stopped for a job. Must use HP supplied charger with unit otherwise a regular Motorolla phone charger with mini USB connector won't work. Great all in one unit with a ton of on board memory. Can use up to 2gb SD cards but not the new 4 or 8GB cards. Different file format unfortunately. Great to keep all your outlook contacts in. You still have to reformat the address inside of the GPS program to make it work but at least they are there. I wish it had a real trip computer that gave altitude, average speed, time stopped, max speed, fuel consumption, and all those other cool details like the garmin's have. They would be too easy to add in to leave them out. Heck my 7 year old garmin III had it in black and white way back when. Anyway the audio recorder and full mp3, video, voice and Wifi with Internet Explorer make it cool to pull emails or surf for whatever when you get a signal.

4 of 5 Great PDA with GPS Monday, July 16, 2007
Guru Prasad from Norwalk, CT
I bought this GPS a week ago and am enjoying the features. It does work out of the box, but I did have problems for the first time with GPS, it took a very long time (more than an hour) to capture the first GPS signal. Even now, I think it takes a lil longer to lock onto a GPS signal. But other than that, I like the GPS software, its very intuitive and quick in calculating the route... Apart from the GPS functionality, its almost like a full PC, with the most applications I use on it... The Wireless LAN capability works great but the pages take a while to load, which is understandable... But it connects pretty quickly. Bluetooth is another thumbs up... Love all the other functionalities, it has a touch screen, but its not very sensitive I think, but using the included stylus, makes it easier... Overall a great buy for the money...

4 of 5 a whole lot in a little package Friday, June 29, 2007
Rob from NJ
I've wanted a portable GPS for a while now. Those alone can cost a few hundred bucks, so when I saw for just a little more I could get one that will also allow me to surf the web at home, play games, keep a calendar, keep a task list, write word docs, etc, it seemed like a great deal. So far so good. It works very fast. The TomTom software works great. I am a bit disappointed in a couple of things, however. The screen does not always respond to my inputs with the stylus, so typing notes, for instance, can be tedious and sometimes frustrating if you are in a rush. I also find the web browsing to be sorely lacking in ease of use. Most menus on web pages get jumbled and some asp and jsp pages don't work at all. But with everything else it does, I guess that's not a big deal. In short, if you are going to get a $300-$400 standalone portable GPS, this gives you quite a bit more functionality for similar-to-slightly-more money.
