As a relative newcomer to the Hot Shots Golf series, I was looking for a fun game that offered online play rather than a game with a long history. I was a big fan of Tiger Woods 07 and have enjoyed golf games as far back as Jack Nicklaus on the PC. So, Hot Shots Golf seemed like a logical choice. Don't let the animated characters fool you, there is an excellent golf game here! New to the series is the Advanced shot which replaces the traditional power meter with a visual display of your character swinging the club. This method works great and when combined with the various shot adjustments, it provides the ability to fine tune your strokes. The available characters each have different abilities and the characters gain new abilities as use them. ?In the single player mode, tere are new clubs, golf balls and outfits to unlock as well as more characters and courses. Online play offers the ability to play friendly games or to participate in scheduled tournaments with up to 50 players, some of which offer in-game prizes, such as new outfits. During the online games, all players play at the same time which keep the games moving along at a good pace. A typical nine hole game takes about 20 minutes. I have been very satisfied with the purchase. There is room for improvement such as in-game voice chat or the ability to watch other players shots during the friendly matches but overall I recommend this game. Was this review helpful?
