| | | Features: DVD John Archibald Dortmunder (Robert Redford) is a notorious cat burglar, fresh out of jail, who embarks on a scheme to steal a gem from a museum. His purposes, however, are noble: he's been asked to steal it by Dr. Amusa (Moses Gunn), who says the gem was stolen from his country in Africa during colonial times. The gem is of great symbolic importance to Amusa's people, and he wants the gem returned to its rightful place. Dortmunder quickly assembles a team of the best, most experienced cat burglars he knows, including Stan Murch (Rob Leibman), who is obsessed with cars to the extent that he loves to listen to recordings of traffic jams, and Andrew Kelp (George Segal). An elaborate plan is hatched, but on the day of the heist, everything that can go wrong, does, and what should have been the perfect heist becomes a hysterical comedy of errors.
 Editor's Note
THE HOT ROCK is an hysterical heist picture in which a sophisticated gang of thieves (including Robert Redford, George Segal, and Zero Mostel) falls victim to a slapstick comedy of errors while trying to lift a giant diamond from a heavily guarded museum. The screenplay by William Goldman is based on the novel by Donald E. Westlake.
