| | The adventure revolves around a Montana boy who moves to Florida and unearths a disturbing threat to a local population of endangered owls. Determined to protect his new environment, the boy and his friends fight to prevent the adults from making a big mistake. Three middle-schoolers take on greedy land developers, corrupt politicians, and clueless cops.
For the soundtrack, Jimmy Buffett recorded a variety of songs including a duet with Alan Jackson of the classic hit "Barefootin" and some great cover versions of Warren Zevon’s "Werewolves of London" and Bruce Cockburn’s "Wondering Where The Lions Are." There’s also a new version of Buffett’s own "Floridays" and an original tune called "Good Guys Win" written especially for the movie by long time Buffett songwriting partners and Coral Reefers Mac McAnally and Roger Guth.
Also contributing tracks to the soundtrack are Maroon 5, Toots and The Maytals, G Love and Special Sauce and Brie Larson.
| | Album Notes and Credits | Notes & Personnel Info | | Composers: Phil Marshall; Michael Utley; Mac McAnally. | | Comic crime novelist Carl Hiassen is so entwined with the state of Florida that the only person who could possibly score the film version of his ecologically-themed kids novel, HOOT, is another Floridian, Jimmy Buffett. Along with contributions from G Love and Special Sauce, Maroon Five, and Toots and the Maytals, the HOOT soundtrack features a number of endearingly laid-back Buffett performances, including a terrific cover of Bruce Cockburn's "Wondering Where the Lions Are." |
