3 of 5It is "Silent" but the 50250 is much bet Thursday, February 26, 2009 KP from Houston, TX
I bought this for my sister (for bedroom). It does the job but overall it is a nice unit and much quieter compare to my Honeywell 50250-N. I don't like how the button and control on the 18155. It feel all rubbery and cheap. The buttons feel like its going to be stuck if I push it too hard. I love how the 50250-N Model is a simple dial switch. Changing the pre-filter is not as simple b/c you would need to cut the pre-filter since it won't fit right out of the box. I wouldn't recommend this one but instead get the 50250-N model instead. Its not that much quiet that will bother me. Just keep it on low when you are around the house and turn it to max when you are away from home.

5 of 5Great device! Wednesday, July 23, 2008 Jim from Oklahoma City, OK
I read all the reviews before purchasing my unit. Many stated that on high speed it was too loud to sleep with it running. I don't find it too loud at all. In fact, we bought the unit for two reasons. First we needed to replace the old style honeywell cleaner we had for MANY years (one that required expensive filters). The other was for the white noise. We live in the country and it is usually quiet out, but if a truck or other loud vehicle should go down the street, it wakes us. Not with this mildly noisey machine. It purs like a kitten and allows us to get a full night sleep while reducing dust in the air and on the furniture.
