 Editor's Note
A group of eight friends head to a mountainside retreat for a vacation, only to find themselves in great danger as a vicious killer starts murdering them. HOLLA firmly sticks to slasher movie conventions but adds a dash of dark humor as it reveals all its gory delights.

| | Professional Reviews | Fangoria 8 of 10 ...Holla takes a distinctly African-American approach to the slasher genre. Not only does it feature a predominantly black cast, but, as producer Camille Irons Coakley explains, it was made with that audience in mind. "We know that our people talk back to the screen," she tells Fango. "Like when the lady puts down the gun, we knew they'd be saying, 'Why is she putting the gun down?'--and she even says, 'You're right, you're right,' and picks it back up. So we knew that going into it and we played off that--the fact that our audience is going to talk back to the screen--and we wanted to give them something to talk about. So a lot of corniness and cliches are written all through it, on purpose. We know that it's campy"...the Coakleys are hoping it does well enough to encourage a green light for the already-planned sequel, to be called--what else?--Holla Back. "Depending on how well the film does," H.M. Coakley says, "both in its limited release but specifically on video, Lionsgate is going to let us know how much commitment they'll give us on the next one. If it does tremendously well, we'll probably get a nice budget and do some really cool stuff, things I wanted to do but couldn't in the first movie." - Michael Gingold
