Notes & Personnel Info |  | Includes liner notes by Mark Doyle. | | As with nearly every other release from Hed Kandi, Deeper, Vol. 2 is a two-disc compilation that places style over substance. While it's admirable that labels such as Hed Kandi cater to clubbers who haven't the resources or desire to track down every single 12", the majority of material they gather together for each release is hollow. And, when the few tracks that rise above these problems are placed within that context, they become smoothed out and lose whatever impact they had to begin with. As bold and flashy as these tracks are, they become grindingly tedious and, within a short stretch of time, vapid. This set features Timo Maas' "To Get Down," Kings of Tomorrow's "Finally (Danny Tenaglia's Time Marches on Mix)," Puretone's "Addicted to Bass (Differentgear Mix)," Shauna Solomon's "I Wanna Be (Ricky Montanari and Stefano Greppi Deep Vox Mix)," and Stylus Trouble's "Future Child." ~ Andy Kellman |
