Album Notes and Credits

Notes & Personnel Info
The Acid Lounge Goes West is a double-disc set of dance music with a Western (as in Wild West with cowboys and cattle and tumbleweeds) influence or sound. The tracks are compiled by 45 Dip, and he takes a very wide-ranging approach to his selections. The bulk of the tracks are trip-hoppy with either twangy guitars, Western film samples, or a dusty, cinematic feel. There are also some house tracks, indie rock from I Am Kloot, funky acid jazz, cut & paste hip-hop, an actual country song ("Popping Pills" by John Miller), and for the very last cut, Jimmy Buffet's "Why Don't We Get Drunk." One gets the feeling that filling up two discs' worth of Western-influenced dance music was quite a task, and 45 Dip doesn't always shoot straight as some of the songs just don't fit (and his own tracks, all four of them, aren't very exciting). Still, the best of the tracks like Revolvo's "Guns," Tim "Love" Lee's "Sombre Hombre," Mr. Scruff's "Valley of the Sausages," Johnny Conquest's "Nor' Easter," and Blue States' "Elias Therepia" make wading through the rest worthwhile. The best thing to do is probably buy the disc and make your own single-disc set from the better tracks. ~ Tim Sendra
