Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Range Extender

Great in every way. You do not have to have direct access to your wireless signal's router or access point. Mine was locked away several buildings down the street. I found that it was not even necessary to connect your computer to your AP or router for the install. Just plug the extender directly into your RJ45 network slot and then use the 'manual' connect, rather than 'automatic' and it eventually IDs the IP address and then allows searching for all available signals. The user manual does not, nor does telephone support contain any information about this manual setup feature. It works. I was not able to directly cable connect to my router for the setup, and found that this undocumented approach works just fine.

This range extender works great. The range covers every corner of my house. I don't have to worry about weak signals anymore. Originally I worried about all the walls and doors may interfere the signals. But it works like a charm. The only weak point is the setup diagram. It is kind of misleading. That's why I don't follow the diagram at all. Just connect the unit to computer with USB cable. Run the installation CD to set it up. Also, some wireless adaptor may not work due to software problem. Try uninstall the driver and reinstall it. Anyway, if your adaptor do not receive good signal from the router, this unit certainly is a good way to fix your problem.

The Repeater works perfectly. The set up was very easy and Now I have 5 bars in an area that only had 2. The web based configuration is very easy to navigate. Setting up the security was easy. I am a very happy customer and The speed is Great. Works with the Linksys WRT160N.

I have Excellent signal in every corner of my house even in the basement..... I had some problems setting it up but technical support guy helped me and it's been working for a month already. So far, I am very happy with this product

Plugged the ethernet cord into an ATT uverse box, plugged the power cord in and in 2 minutes I was on the internet. I went back later and configured the WPA key to secure it and that took a couple minutes and was so easy. Great product!

Followed instructions and for setup connected using eithernet connection to wireless modem and in 5 minutes repeater was extending my internet service to areas of my property never reached before.

So far it is working great. We had some Linksys range extenders in to get the range of the wireless better and we had to reset alot. They they started to completely stop working, no power no nothing. So we found out about another solution to our wireless went with it and started using the Hawking Hi-Gain with the outside Antenna and it is working great.

My desktop and router are in an addition added to the house, which means that the signal has to go through thick walls. I usually got one bar with my laptop in the house. After trying a cheaper extender that didn't work at all, I decided to buy this. I couldn't get it set up, but a technician patiently walked me through an involved process of setting changes. At the end it worked fine. I have the extender sitting on a beam above a dropped ceiling in my living room, and thus out of sight. I now have five bars on my laptop in the basement or in the third floor attic. I never thought I'd see that. It's been working flawlessly for the last three weeks. This was an excellent purchase.

The first unit worked, but had a loose power connector. Buy.com replaced it within a week. The second unit is working nicely. Although it extends the original signal well, I did notice reduced download speeds when tested with (speedtest.net). But this is imperceptible when surfing the internet. The setup was very easy using the web interface. The Hwren1 came with firmware 1.16 installed. Therefore, no need to update it. Just remember to match the channel and security settings of your parent router with the Hrwen1-extender. Also, changing out the original 3dBi antennas with 5dBi did not make any difference. Overall, a great extender.

I have tried various things to increase my signal strengh. Finally, something that works. We have several walls to got through and about 200-250 feet. I was barely getting enough signal to log on. Now I'm getting full signal strength! And it was SO easy. Took about 10-15 minutes to get up and running.

Received on 2nd day after order. Simple and quick to install. Now have 5 bars of power at former dead spot. Was compatible with Belkin N router.

Although the first extender I received was defective, Buy.com replaced it with blazing speed. The second one worked like a charm. It took about 5 minutes to program and get running. I now have 100% signal all over my house.
