Hi-Gain Antenna Technology Extends Wireless Range Hawking Technologies' HWC54D Wireless-G Cardbus PC Card Adapter features the latest in wireless technology. Standard wireless cardbus cards use low power antennas that deliver a circular signal pattern. This type of pattern recieves interference from the metal components within the laptop resulting in a drop in wireless performance and distance. The HWC54D solves this problem with its advanced directional 6 dBi Hi-Gain Antenna that delivers a strong concentrated signal in the direction of the wireless access point to establish a strong wireless link resulting in a significant increase in operating distance (Up to 200%). The Hi-Gain antenna position swivels and folds to make finding an optimal signal easy and simple. When you are not using the card, simply fold the antenna down for compact, safe, easy transport.

5 of 5 Hawking HWC54D Wireless Card Wednesday, December 12, 2007
Quentin from Oscoda, Mi.

The Hawking card with the directional antenna easily doubles your range to pick up a wireless network. I was able to pick up in locations that I could not access with a regular wireless card. If you need a stronger signal and greater distance this is the card to get.

4 of 5 Gets the job done. Tuesday, November 27, 2007
A Customer from Chicago IL
Extended the range of my notebook so I could pick up an open network at my wife's store. I ended up getting DSL in there and thus my use has evaporated. But all in all it got the job done.

1 of 5 Disappointed! Tuesday, November 27, 2007
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
Serious waste of money! Wouldn't recommend it at all. No effect on signal strength using this unit.

5 of 5 Great Wireless Laptop Card!!! Wednesday, October 25, 2006
Amber from Jacksonville, FL
Before buying my Hi-Gain wireless card I was using a 802.11b wireless card. It was very slow and the best signal that I could get in my upstairs computer room was "low". Now that I am using the Hi-Gain card I have "very good" signal almost every time I use it. It was very easy to install and I started using it right away. The antena is great because when my signal is low I can just turn or move it up and down to find a better signal. The antena does feel a little cheap, so you just have to be careful with it. All in all it is a great wireless card, and I am very pleased with my results!

5 of 5 Quality Hawking Product Wednesday, February 22, 2006
Andre from New York
A great product at a competitive price -- but -- in my case, there was a small problem of the driver from the install cd not compatible with my computer. Although a quick call to the technical support was all it took. An updated driver was sent, and it works like a charm. This card is great for travel, where you can not count on decent signal strength. If it is there, you will get signal with ease.

5 of 5 Wow! You notice the improvement immediately Friday, June 10, 2005
A Customer from Oakland, CA
My old card occasionally dropped the connection in certain areas of my home. Now I have very good coverage everywhere thanks to the rotating antenna and web pages load at least 50% faster. My internet connection is now truly "broadband." If you're having bad connections, this is a simple fix.

5 of 5 Worked for me!! Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Cablanasion from Dallas, Texas
I was having problems connecting to my Linksys router and this totally solved them. I can go nearly twice as far as I can with my centrino notebook wireless. The antenna swivels and turns 360% so you can point it directly at your router or wherever there is signal. Another thing I found it handy for is when I travel I can sometimes "pick up" signals that I can't even see using the internal wireless in my notebook. Great product!
