5 of 5 Perfect Product Thursday, March 20, 2008 A Customer from Rochester, Mn.
I installed the card in my Media Center Edition windows computer.
Very simple to do. Ran the install disk, also very simple. I already had a single tuner card installed, left it in. Then went into the Media Center software and told it to auto-configure the
new card, it worked flawlessly. It kept all my options and
all the tv programs from my old card. This could not have been
any easier. I can't use my old card yet(until I get around
to following instructions I found on the net on how to change
settings in the registry) to record more than 2 shows at once.
I wish all things with computers would install and work as
perfect as this. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Hauppauge Puts SONY Gigapocket to Shame Sunday, March 18, 2007 marty bacon from warwick, ny
The Hauppauge WinTV PVR 500 MCE PCI Tuner Card .....
I purchased this digtal tv & video recorder, dual tv tuner, fm radio ... from Hauppauge ... because I have a SONY RB60G mce VAIO tower with Gigapocket, and it cant be upgraded to Vista Home Premium. I had upgraded the VAIO when I bought it, it is capable of running any version of Vista, 32 or 64 bit.
SONY said they support Vista, but the drivers for RB60G desktop tower do not work. Their support was no help. I needed to replace the Gigapocket with another tv tuner-recorder.
As my graphics card was an ATI X800, and it worked well with Vista, I first tried to upgrade to a TV-WONDER-200. It worked but not with the Vista Media Center.
So I tried the Hauppauge-500, everything worked. First thing out of the box it worked. Vista Media Center embraced it like the long lost son, returned home from the war.
Most of the card's chipset match the SONY Gigapocket, if Hauppauge can write drivers for Vista, why can't SONY?
Hauppauge is my "New Best Friend,"

5 of 5 Dual Tuners Rock Tuesday, October 17, 2006 Bill W from Covington KY
I have two of these units in my WindowsXP Home Edition PC with 512 Megs of RAM and a AMD 2500+ Processor. I run BeyondTV by Snapstream and can record four shows a once. The built in mpeg decoders free up system resources. I would highly recommend this dual tuner card to amyone wanting to setup a Media PC or DVR. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 THE BEST PCI DUEL TUNER ON THE MARKET! Tuesday, September 05, 2006 Harvey from California
I have this installed on my MCE 2005 and it works great! Very easy to install and use. Watch one channel while recording another.
The only drawback is that you can't record TV and listen to the radio at the same time. Was this review helpful?

Very nice TV tuner with low resource use (256MB Ram & P4 1.7 CPU). Works great with Sage or Beyond. No driver problems. Great to watch & record at same time. Was this review helpful?

I've installed this card in an MCE 2005 (symphony) system. The MPEG encoders do an excellent job of keeping the processor usage very low, even when recording on two channels at once. For anyone debating between this and a single-tuner solution for Media Center, I would highly recommend the dual-tuner option. It comes in very handy both if you want to watch TV while something else is recording, or if there are two shows on at once that you want to record. I did notice that the tuners on this card didn't seem to do quite as well as my Tivo when I had a mediocre signal from the cable company-- more fuzziness. With a good signal, it's a non-issue. Also, not really specific to this card, but with Media Center, you will need to pick up a 3rd party MPEG decoder, and Media Center is *very* picky about which ones will work. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this product for use on my Dell PC running Windows Media Center Edition 2005 and it works Great!! The Install was rather easy, just note that this PCI card is oversized! The Included instructions are a little too vauge, but after a quick call to Hauppauge every thing was made clear. The card itself contains the splitter so you dont have to run two cable lines to it. One cable line Two Tunners, watch one program and record another. There is no strain on my system at all, Note- Microsoft recomenends a 2.8 or above processor for TV recording.
With Media Center 05 Configuration was a breeze, you also get a free program guide with accurate time and channel listings... Was this review helpful?
