    About Halo 3

The epic saga continues with Halo 3, the hugely anticipated third chapter in the highly successful and critically acclaimed Halo franchise. Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax.

Halo 3 represents the third chapter in the Halo trilogy--an international award-winning action series that grew into a global entertainment phenomenon, selling more than 14.5 million units worldwide, logging more than 650 million hours of multiplayer action on Xbox Live, and spawning action figures, books, a graphic novel, apparel, an upcoming film adaptation, and more!

    The Story So Far...

It is the year 2552. Humanity has long been at war with the terrifying alien civilization that collectively calls itself The Covenant. This monstrous conglomerate of warlike species sees Humanity as a form of heresy against their religion—a religion based in the single-minded belief that a Great Journey awaits its faithful and that this Journey can be embarked upon by activating an array of vast, ring-like artifacts scattered throughout the Galaxy.

These vast, terraformed rings are called Halos and have been long-abandoned by their mysterious and long-vanished creators, The Forerunners.

The war with the Covenant has reduced humanity to ragged tatters. A once-sprawling network of planets is now almost entirely destroyed. Human populations have been decimated and world after world reduced to lifeless rock.

    Enter Master Chief

This conflict, terrible and destructive though it is, has been complicated and compounded by a series of cascading events. One of these artificial worlds, these Halos, was discovered and subsequently destroyed by human forces, led by Spartan 117—the Master Chief—the last fighting member of the legendary Spartan II military program and humanity's last, best hope.

A conflict at a second Halo installation became a galaxy-spanning conflagration, as civil war erupted within the Covenant, driven by revelations that the Covenant leadership, The Prophets, had been deliberately deceiving its populace for millennia.

In truth, these Halos would not take the Covenant on a Great Journey, but rather eradicate all sentient life in the Galaxy— created by the Forerunners as weapons of last resort against the most terrifying menace the Galaxy has ever known—and a menace the deluded Covenant has reawakened for the second time in a hundred thousand years. That creeping horror will engulf the Galaxy unless some way can be found to stop it once and for all.

    The Flood

That horror is the Flood—a sentient, all-consuming parasite that makes monstrous puppets of those it kills and will not stop until every last thinking creature is absorbed into its ferociously intelligent plan.

The second Halo has been activated, putting all of the remaining installations in a dangerous state of emergency standby—they are primed to fire. Worse still, the Covenant has discovered the long-hidden location of Earth and crushed almost all human resistance, as it seeks vital clues to the nature of the Halo array—some of which may have been hidden under our very feet for untold millennia.

Even with our newfound allies, the Elites, and the leadership of their valiant and honorable leader, The Arbiter, we are still hopelessly outnumbered, as the Prophets set their wills against us—and forces greater than the Covenant, wheel malevolently into place.

As the Master Chief hurtles Earthward in a Forerunner spacecraft, he may be our last chance to stop the Covenant, the Flood and the ticking time bomb that is the Halo network, before every last soul in the Galaxy is destroyed. The stakes have never been higher. It's time to finish the fight.

There are video games, and then there's Halo. For millions of people around the world, the science fiction FPS is the reason they play games. It's the reason they bought an Xbox. It's the reason they signed up to Xbox Live. Master Chief is their hero, a modern day icon for a modern day generation...Halo 3 transcends video games. It is a global entertainment experience. Just as Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Spiderman 3 brought to a close two of the most lucrative and epic film trilogies of all time, Halo 3 brings to a close perhaps the most complete, engaging and downright fun video game trilogy of all time. There is absolutely no way any Halo fan will be disappointed by this game. - Wesley Yin-Poole

A Gamer from Philadelphia , PA

To tell you the truth i started the campaign and i don't feel like finishing it. Why is that?Simple, the online part of halo 3 is awesome. This is probably the best online game.New weapons(Spartan laser my favorite)all new maps, new equipments which increase the strategy of the game etc. You know some games get boring after a while?this is not one o them You wont get tired of playing. Even after 6 months i still play this game and im a general at it now. With collectors edition you get the bonus disk on halo3 making, design, story, tips etc. There are at least 50.000 players online everyday playing halo3. Be one of them!!!

    5 of 5 Excellent Game Wednesday, July 09, 2008
A Gamer from Bowling Green, KY
The best of the Halo series, the collector's edition epitomizes the best features. The price at Buy.com was simply amazing and too good to pass up. A word to the wise: Microsoft's flimsy packaging for the collector's edition has scratched many discs (mine included).

5 of 5 great game, but microsoft quality not good Wednesday, November 28, 2007
    A Gamer from Warsaw, IN
The game is great. The kids love it. The Game like so many of the limited editions sold was scratched. The came loose in the case and scratched. Microsoft knew they were but sold anyway. They did offer replacement disc, but what kid wants to give up there game for 4 to 6 weeks. Buy.com thumbs up. Microsoft shame on you. Microsoft could have offered a better way to replace, like charge for a replacement and then refund after the old was returned. Oh well the kid still love it and it plays ok for now.

    5 of 5 Finally Halo3 is released!! Wednesday, November 28, 2007
    JOC3 from Chicago, IL
The game came scratched, but that was an issue with the packing of this edition, many (most) people had this problem and Microsoft is replacing them free. However, the game played fine, both single player (great action and wanted to continue playing until completed) and online, lots of fun and a great game. That is until I got Call of Duty 4 a couple of weeks ago, so it will not get any play for quite some time.

4 of 5 Another fun game from Bungie Wednesday, November 28, 2007
    Dan from Audubon, PA
I've been following Bungie for a long time (ever since the first Marathon) and they've released some great games over the years. They've always focused on great gameplay. This game doesn't push the graphics envelope, but it is a lot of fun to play solo or with others. The replay feature is nice, but I rarely use it. The sound is incredible and makes the game seem more like an epic movie. I thought the game was too easy, even on Legendary. As for the packaging, I regret getting the Limited Edition. I thought the case would be more like the Limited Edition Halo 2 packaging which was about the size of a normal DVD case and held the discs well. This one is about the size of three DVD cases put together and does a terrible job of holding the discs. They can easily become dislodged and scratched. Some of the extras were good, but if I had to do it over again, I probably would have just gotten the regular edition.

    5 of 5 Damaged Disks Wednesday, November 28, 2007
    Mike from Redmond, WA
This game is a lot of fun for the kids to play. The disks where damaged because they where loose in the metal case and have been sent in to Microsoft for a free replacement, at last count it has been 10 days and we haven't received them. I suspect they have learned a leason about game packaging. The metal case was also dented, which is to bad for what was supposed to be a "collectors edition"

5 of 5 Game and Box Received Damaged Thursday, October 25, 2007
    mjway from Bristol, CT
Upon receiving the game in the limited edition case I observed that the metal case had been severely damaged and dented. The discs were loose inside the metal case. I actually had to pry one side of the case open in order to get the discs out. Upon removing the discs from the metal case I noticed that the two discs were severely scratched.

    4 of 5 Great Game Wednesday, October 24, 2007
    Bishop from NC
This is by far one of the best games out for the Xbox 360. I bought the collectors edition after I learned you couldn't wear the spartan helmet that comes with the legendary edition. I would give this game a perfect review, but you now have to use the bumpers for entering/exiting vehicles, and picking up weapons. While you can change the controls, most halo 3 tournaments will not allow you to change them. the only other problem is the fact that the collector editions that were sold on release day sometimes have dented cases or scratched disks. overall, I think that this game and this version is worth the money.

    5 of 5 Excellent game Friday, September 28, 2007
    Jonathan from South Texas
If you haven't ordered your copy of Halo 3 or gone out to purchase it and you're a Halo fan. Might as well get it today. On the con side, my box came dented and it's one of those Limited Edition disks that were scratched. It's free to replace through Microsoft so I will be doing that.

5 of 5 Dont buy this version of the game Wednesday, September 26, 2007
    Jensenat from Raleigh, NC
I am sure most of the gamers already know this, but the case for this version of the game (Limited Collector's Edition) is scraching the disks because of the way the clip that holds the dvds was made. I opened three of this cases to find all the disk in all three of them scratched. Great game (but not the best xbox 360 game out there - imho) a must buy, a pity this version is all mess up. MS is replacing them - the cds - for free, but I want to buy a game to play it, not to send it for replacement out of the box.
