5 of 5 This works! Thursday, September 17, 2009
Samantha from Los Angeles, CA

I bought this in August 2009 to replace all of my small analog portable TVs. This is an excellent deal. I live in a large urban setting, and except for Channel 2 (CBS) I get every broadcast channel on this set that I get on my larger sets, all of which operate with rabbit ear antennas. Due to hearing challenges, I cannot attest to the external speaker quality, but I can tell you that with the ear buds, I can hear everything clearly. The picture is outstanding, and the response time either from the unit or remote, is quick. My only complaint is that they did not make a case for this, or build it with the folding cover to protect the screen which would make traveling with it easier and safer.

5 of 5 Re review of the haier Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Doug Wilson from Midwest City
My first review was not glowing and now I know why. The screen protector on the unit I received was basically welded in there. This unit has a screen protector that came off with minimal effort. The prior one was in there so tight I thought I was going to break the unit. Ok, much much better. Now I can take some time to actually run through the unit. Now on to the review. The Haier picked up every digital channel available in the area and from the opposite side of the house. To be fair it does stammer a bit, but there are about four houses and my garage between here and a clear line of site to the downtown antenna farm. I call that great for a portable TV and regular antenna. Moving it to the living room (which has about two houses in the way) resulted in a stable channel across the board. FYI, I'm about seven (7) miles from the antenna farm. I could not test NTSC simply because they are all off in this area now. Bye old TV Cable TV comes in nice and clear. I'm used to watching TV on the computer via a WinFast 2000 card. The PC has better resolution but then again I didn't buy this unit as a cable TV. Hooking it to my camcorder (older Nikon 700 Hi-8) ..mongo like!!.. Makes a very sweet monitor for taking shots. Now to try the Canon SD2000 camera. Yep, it takes the feed and produces a nice picture. Not as good as the PC monitor, but good enough to watch a slide show. The sound is more than adequate and with my ipod earbuds, quite good. Better than I expected. It would be killer if the unit had a bluetooth capability. Screen resolution is great and the image is clear. I can read the small print from across the room. Of course it could always be better but honestly are you looking for 1080p? :) My only one nit is with the remote. I'd like to have larger volume and channel buttons. Or override the arrow keys. The remote uses AAA batteries. I much prefer this to the smaller button cell remotes. Those button cell batteries can run $4 a piece and AAAs are dirt cheap. sidenote: For those of you that wonder what the USB connector is for, it's for firmware updates. I have not checked to see if the unit can charge via the connector, I do not expect it to.

5 of 5 Great TV, does more than I expected Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Joseph Massimino from Jensen Beach, FL
The picture is great. Digital TV is a little harder to pickup than some people realize, but from where I live, I can get 10 channels. On cable it will pickup clear QAM. It got 60 cable channels on my Comcast cable. The menu is full featured. You can have favorite channels, edit channels, edit the display for channels, so what more could you want? The only short coming is the sound, it is rather weak, and I use a powered computer speaker when I am in the house. I took one star off of performace for the sound. Also, the TV has a standard threaded mount on the bottom. This means that you could put it on a camera tripod, or mount it on your wall, or use it in any way you please. The USB port does nothing, there is no driver for it. I can only guess that the factory uses it to program it to whatever country it will go to. Everybody in the house likes the TV as much as I do. Don't let the people who don't get good digital reception stop you from buying this set. This TV is future ready, it receives digital TV, and now that the analog TV went off air, this is the only kind of Tv you can have that will work off of an antenna.

1 of 5 Air signal is poor Tuesday, June 16, 2009
A Customer from Houston, TX
After trying several enhanced antennas I still had no luck getting a good signal. I live in the city of Houston and I could get get maybe 3 or 4 stations out of 20+ and that was with the enhanced antennas I bought. The factory antenna just plain doesn't work. What good is a portable if you need to hook to cable? I am sending back for credit.

1 of 5 arived factory damaged Thursday, June 11, 2009
Doug Wilson from Midwest City
This thing literally showed up two days after ordering. Must have shipped locally. However upon opening the undamaged box I noticed there was a pull tab looking thing on the display. Thing is it was not a screen protector but probably the OEM LCD protector that should have been removed at the factory. It was partially folded back and there was lettering under the plastic so back it goes for an exchange. All the way to California! With any luck I'll have a working unit in a week or so. Now on to the review. The unit did work and I was able to pull in most of the local tv channels, ATSC and NTSC despite being on the opposite side of the house. I do agree the antenna is a bit wibbly, but it works. Odd thing, there is a USB connector on the bottom but I'm not sure what that's for. Soon as I get the replacement I'll do a better writeup.

5 of 5 Excellent value Thursday, June 11, 2009
Marlin from Spokane, WA
I'm a broadcast TV engineer in charge of all our transmission sites. We have two of these for checking our digital and analog transmitters and translators. It fits nicely in a CD player case with all the included accessories. I use the included antenna for quick checking or connect to an outdoor antenna for more precise monitoring. It's a great tool for me. I'd recommend it to anyone replacing up to a 9" conventional TV set. In general rabbit ears suck for dependable DTV reception. Don't blame any TV for that. Two thumbs up.

1 of 5 Very poor sensitivity Thursday, June 04, 2009
Jim from Westfield, NJ
This set is wonderful if you connect it to cable. Well made with a beautiful picture. A good buy if you really need a 7 inch tv in your home. However, the receive sensitivity is very poor. I could not receive one acceptable signal in my home on the included antenna. What use is a portable that must be connected to an external antenna or cable? I returned mine for a refund.

5 of 5 Great lil' tv Tuesday, May 12, 2009
Claudia from Compton, California
I bought two of these Haier televisions, one for my office and the other one for my bathroom. They work great. I connected them to a Phillips HDTv antenna and I get good reception. Some channels don't come in clear, but that has to do with the new DTV reception. I have the same problem with my digital converter boxes. The tv stations just have to strengthen their signal so we can get better reception. I connected my Haier tv directly to cable just to check it out, and the reception was magnificent! The picture quality is amazing it is true digital, crisp, clear and colorful. I have everyone amazed by this lil' tv. At first glance, co-workers think it's a digital photo frame, then they are taken back when they find out it's a tv. My son is already making plans to take this tv on our road trip to hook up his XBox to it.

5 of 5 What a great little LCD TV Monday, May 11, 2009
Gary Nabors from East Peoria, Illinois
I purchased this great little TV to go with my tread mill. It is so much more entertaining to walk while watching my favorite show. It makes excersizing a breeze. But for those who just want a very portable TV to take every where you go, this is also the ticket. I can plug it into the AC outlet at home or into the car cigarette lighter when I travel. When I have no place to plug it in, the battery gets me through amply. I connect it to my cable outlet at home to enjoy hundreds of stations and when I attach the included antennae I can program it to pick up quite a few digital channels depending on where I am in the country. It is very user friendly and the directions are easy to follow. Finally, I am amazed that at such a low price I can do all this and get such a beautiful picture. What an amazing addition to my entertainment gadgets that I've collected over the years. Most of them never lived up to everything they claimed to do, but not this little baby.....it really comes through!!

5 of 5 Excellent QAM/ATSC/NTSC Portable TV Saturday, May 09, 2009
Very Satisfied Customer from Houston, Texas
I love this portable LCD TV. It does everything it says and more. Reception is great. Battery life exceeds 2 hours and can be replaced. The remote is well laid out. The car charger is a terrific addition. Also, the unit has built-in clear QAM reception. All you need to do is hook it up to your digital cable and do a channel scan. The channels on my ***cast cable are beautiful using this unit and I watch cable (analog and digital) in bed late at night without disturbing my spouse. I use a quick release Type F connector available at Rad** **ack. There are a lot of complaints about this unit's ATSC reception and these are unfair. Just buy an external powered antenna and move on. No other portable TV will pull in better signals. All ATSC channels can be hard to receive depending upon your location/terrain/wall composition. Finally, if you live in a hurricane or tornado prone area like I do, get this unit. After June 2009, NTSC broadcasts will end and you'll need a portable ATSC TV to see the local weather when the power goes out. It could save your life.

5 of 5 Great; especially for the price Saturday, May 09, 2009
Bob from Jupiter, FL
I was looking for a small device for the kitchen. Fortunately a cable outlet was available so the hook-up was simple. Without electricity the TV went to its internal battery with no loss of quality. The included car 12VDC lighter adds to its versatility. The TV will be used in Florida where apart from kitchen use it becomes part of our storm emergency kit.

3 of 5 Good but not sensitive enough Saturday, April 25, 2009
Alan Rutz from La Porte Indiana
Very nice case and form-factor. Very good image and not very hard to learn to operate. This unit would be fine if you have a VERY strong TV signal, but in the country where I live, this set will only find one out of every ten signals my other digital TV sets will find and display. This using a large outdoor antenna and coaxial cable for every test, not just the included whip antenna, with which I can see no signals at all. Most small or miniature radios and TV sets include a tuner that is as hot as they can make it... but this set has a less-than-normal signal sensitivity. Buy it if you live in a city only.

4 of 5 Quite nice set, with limited reception... Thursday, April 23, 2009
Ditch from Bethesda, MD
Simply put, the television arrived today. Overall, I'd say it's pretty great with a few exceptions. 1. The channels it receives by air are somewhat limited (haven't tried out it's cable reception as yet). 2. The screen has a "somewhat" noticable glitch in a few of its LED's , and while not a real problem, they do limit it's desireability somewhat (but for the price, it's not worth shipping back). 3. The batteries don't hold that much of a charge and so I'll have to charge it rather often (somewhere under 2 hours viewing per charge). Otherwise, it's a real nice size and weight, and overall I'm rather pleased with it in general. Cheers!

3 of 5 Can it go longer than 2 hours? Saturday, March 28, 2009
ann from greensboro, nc
the tv is a good size, great viewing area and pix come in quite well, especially the digital stations. those are as clear as a regular in home tv. don't plan any long term viewing, though. after fully charging the battery, the tv only lasted just under 2 hours. not sure if a longer life battery can be used with tv or not, but it would make this a much better product if that were possible. it needs to work longer than 2 hours!

4 of 5 Great Little HD TV Tuesday, March 17, 2009
A Customer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Great value at this price. However, you will need an additional antenna for better/total reception. Sound is good for a TV this size. Digital pictures are clear and crisp, with optional antenna.

4 of 5 Nice for the Price Friday, January 30, 2009
GJC from Lansdale, PA
I needed a small set to replace our kitchen table TV. This is one of the few that are this size. The set is not real sensitive so at my distance from the TV stations, about 12 miles, I needed a different antenna from the simple monopole provided. With this addition the set performs well. The sound is a little tinny, but clear. I believe it is a good value for the price ($107)

5 of 5 Great value for the price Wednesday, January 28, 2009
Big Daddy from Houston, TX
It takes a little getting used to Digital TV, but this little powerhouse is perfect for personal viewing. I am thinking of buying a second one to mount near the tub/shower so my wife can watch her favorite shows while in the bath. Easy to use, compact, and an excellent value. Has a good looking black appearance, with a remote control. The included antenna works good, but I recommend that you attach cable or external antenna. I think the digital signal can be interrupted by walking near the antenna, (that's digital). I am pleased with the purchase. Has a rechargable battery, ac adapter, and car cord, makes it go anywhere.

5 of 5 Forgets channels sometimes otherwise OK Monday, January 26, 2009
A Customer from Houston, TX
Works as advertised except occasionally will forget all channels which forces one to perform a rescan. Reception comparable to other units using external antenna. Not impressed with results using included antenna. Seems to be the same unit as the one sold at Radio Shack for $200 under a different brand.

OKSTAN from Lansing,Il.
Ordered one and rcvd a black unit different from picture. Thought it was a newer unit. It was JUNK, would NOT pull in stations to watch from external atennas. Set it up to cable and it found 21/124 channels..all UNwatchable..POC items..returned...wainting for replacement...went on BO again. This is as nice as I can make it...no reviews posted on this item from me. Hey the 42" lcd tv works great that I bought...

4 of 5 HLT71 works for me Friday, October 17, 2008
Joe from Columbus, Ohio
Received 7 inch digital HD tv promply from buy.com. I wanted a digital replacement for the old analog tube type 5 inch tv that we had in the Bathroom. The Haier works ok so far. The sensitivity is not that great; not sure if its the tuner in the tv or just the difficulties associated with receiving DTV signals. Once I find an acceptable signal level the picture is great. I'll try connecting an external indoor antenna instead of the rod antenna that came with the set. Looks like a great buy for the price.

4 of 5 Good value Tuesday, October 14, 2008
EE from Evansville, Indiana
Overall OK. Good sharp display. The remote needs to be very close to the unit and at a particular angle. The audio out via onboard jack is weak for feeding a std amplifier..probably OK for small headset.
