Appropriately enough, the soundtrack to Bam Margera's over-the-top skater comedy Haggard features plenty of aggressive music. However, the album shies away from the Warped Festival-friendly punk-pop commonly associated with skaters, opting instead to rock out more eclectically and strangely. Dour, driving metal tracks like H.I.M.'s "Lose You Tonight," Sopor Aeturnus' "Resume," and CKY's "Shock Be Terror" are the order of the day, although New Order's "Someone Like You" and Iggy & the Stooges' "Search & Destroy" give the collection some quirky twists. The quirkiest song here, though, would have to be Gnar Kill's deeply dumb "I Got Erection," which moves from vaguely Spanish-tinged verses (with lyrics like "I think of cheese/I think of mud/Erection") to shouted choruses. The band's "The Golden Egg" is nearly as fun, fusing the silliness of Ween with hardcore. Otimen Recording Hell's "Sneakin' Into Your House" adds to the air of menacing mischief that pervades the soundtrack, which helps make it an entertaining listen outside of the film's context. ~ Heather Phares
