Metallica's influential music takes center stage this spring when Activision Publishing Inc.'s Guitar Hero(R) Metallica(R) takes music fans through the band's fabled library of songs, plus the music and musicians who influence them. When the house lights go down this spring, virtual rock stars across the globe will shred, drum and wail to an explosive set list. PS 2 featuring over 45 tracks from Metallica's illustrious career and a wide variety of other legendary artists personally selected by the band, such as Queen, Foo Fighters, Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Slayer and Judas Priest.
| | Features | | Authentic Metallica: Play as the band with their actual motion captured moves and likeness, representing the FULL presence and intensity of James, Lars, Kirk, and Robert. Take the stage in some of the world's most amazing and epic venues featuring famous Metallica stages and iconic imagery. Of course, all tracks and content are "Metallica Approved," so you know they rock. | | Full Feature Set from Guitar Hero: World Tour: Up to four players can join together and rock locally, or battle other bands online with up to eight players. Guitar Hero: Metallica includes Rock Star Creator, playing with friends online, the full Music Studio and the user-created music sharing service, GHTunes. You can even play the Death Magnetic downloadable content as Metallica themselves. | | New Content and Gameplay: For the first time ever, the game supports TWO kick pedals, and in a new Expert + mode, there are two separate pedals signals, letting you play like Lars on double bass drums. Go deeper into Metallica, with guerilla-style videos straight from their concerts and the option to test your Metallica know-how on any song you beat with facts from the band's history, and how the guest acts are tied to Metallica. The whole game is true to Metallica, from the updated attacks in Battle Mode to the new samples in the Music Studio. | | Over 20 Superstar Guest Acts: Over 20 bands are in the game all personally chosen by Metallica, including Queen, Alice in Chains, Slayer, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Foo Fighters. Guitar Hero: Metallica lets you jam to a wide variety of high-energy rock. Go beyond the music of Metallica to bands they have collaborated with, and the music that has inspired them. |

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 guitar hero metallica rocks Friday, May 15, 2009 William from Los Angeles, CA
This is the best Guitar Hero game by far. Very good songs and solos are wicked crazy on most songs.
I still say "The Day That Never Comes" by Metallica should have been there Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 I love this game Monday, May 04, 2009 A Gamer from Bloomington, IN
GH Metallica is incredibly fun...the folks at Neversoft are really beginning to excel at song charting. Metallica songs can be very long, but they also have several different sections per song, so although they are long, they also have variety within each song. Non-Metallica songs are fine, but I haven't even wanted to play them yet. Have never really been a Metallica fan before...until now. Love it!
Pros:
fun -
great gameplay -
good choices for the Metallica songs -
They finally balanced the difficulty levels appropriately--no longer big jumps in difficulty between any of the levels.
open strings for bass is awesome...I'm actually playing a bass career, which you couldn't have paid me to do before! Bass is excellent in this game.
Cons:
really long load times (just like GH World Tour) -
graphics are only average on the PS2 -
system occasionally has trouble keeping up with the framerate, but this shouldn't be a big deal (very rare) -
No online features for PS2--I'm sure the PS2 system doesn't have the right hardware (i.e. a hard drive) to receive downloadable content, but at least let us play matches against people online...the machine is certainly capable of that!
This is the Guitar Hero that I can't put down at this point. Far better than World Tour in my opinion. I just didn't care for most of the songs in World Tour but I like nearly all of the songs in this game. Was this review helpful?
