1 of 5 It broke after a couple days... Monday, June 30, 2008 A Gamer from Shoreline, WA
The game (dvd) itself works well, but the guitar stopped working. We tried replacing the battery with new batteries, but that didnt work. We can play the game, but NOT with the guitar. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It's a blast! great family fun!!! Saturday, May 10, 2008 Debbie from claremore, ok
This is a great game for the entire family. no musical talent required! we play it together as a family. One of the few things we do together and everyone enjoys it!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 GH III Rocks Your World Wednesday, April 16, 2008 A Gamer from Melbourne, FL
Who can pass up this offer? Great value + free shipping! So many songs, so little time. Whether your training, practicing or jamin' live with your band, GH III rocks your world. This product performs well; I have intermittent problems with the wireless controller not making the cut, thus I bomb out on some songs, which is frustrating, but recoverable.
Overall I'm happy with my purchase. Was this review helpful?

This game is great! I'm not a gamer, but I spend about an hour a day playing it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 From a musician's point of view Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Chris S from Puyallup, WA
Let me just start by saying that the sole reason I purchased this game was to play "One" by Metallica, which I had found to be on this game when I was playing at a friend's house. I was thrilled when I got to that point, and have enjoyed playing it the whole time.

I first thought the whole Guitar Hero series was going to be a boring game for anyone who has experience playing guitar (I played bass for about 3 years in a band), but from the very first moment I picked it up I became addicted. It is thrilling to play some of your favorite songs and many of the timeless classic rock songs all without having to devote years of your life to perfecting the art that is shredding (playing guitar).

The biggest downside to this version is that you are stuck with the songs that are given. This is only different in the XBox 360 (as far as I know), so unless you've already made that investment, this is an awesome game. Also, if you are a rock music enthusiast, you may be disappointed that some of the songs are not exactly as they are on record (or CD), but Guitar Hero does an absolutely wonderful job (compared to most) of doing covers so don't be too disheartened.

I can't speak for people who did not grow up listening to rock or classic rock, but as someone who did, a very good portion of these songs are perfect selections. I love playing songs from Heart, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Black Sabbath, AFI, ZZ Top, and Rage Against the Machine to name a few.

Many people with little or no guitar playing experience love the game. As someone who has played guitar before (mostly bass but I dabbled and hung out with some experienced guitar players), I have to say that it is still thoroughly enjoyable. The more difficult modes (even starting with medium) tap into your skills as a guitar player and you don't feel so guilty for having left behind your beloved 6 (or 12, 4, or 5) strings for five buttons. The first time I ever played Guitar Hero, I played (I believe it was 2, but it may have been 1) on the medium difficulty and got about 80% on one of the songs a few venues in (granted I knew the song beforehand, but I had basically never seen the game interface before).

All in all, a definite worthwhile investment if you do not have an XBox 360. I got the free shipping at Buy.com and it came much faster than any other free shipping I have ever used before (and I've gotten it from about 15 to 20 places). Thanks Buy.com and rock on! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very challenging & FUN game! Sunday, February 03, 2008 R. Miller from Groton, NY
We bought this game for my son for Christmas and didn't see him for 3 days afterwards. Either he loved it (judging from the constant music coming from his room), or he was in there pouting, which isn't his style ;) I even tried to play it, and had fun making a fool out of myself! Highly recommended for the musically inclined, or even those with a passing interest! Was this review helpful?

I was very satisfied with my recent purchase. The shipping was a little slow, I paid $26 to have it overnighted and recieved it 4 days later. Due to it being so very close to Christmas, I understood and was just happy to have recieved it on Christmas
Eve. I would definetely do business again Was this review helpful?
