5 of 5 Excellent sound; good looking Friday, June 05, 2009
    KH from LA, CA
I wish I had bought a few of these back when I got it at $53 shipped. The sound is excellent and it looks very good and unobtrusive in the family room. It has an excellent heft and the speakers are not tinny by any means. The remote is simple and small. Swapping out the iPod dock inserts (so that it can fit various sizes of iPods) is just a small pain as they can get lost.

    5 of 5 highly recommended Friday, May 29, 2009
    dino from corona ca
We had one of these at a local electronic store and I was immidiately impressed by the big sound coming from the little package when I first heard it. Not only does it produce excellent sound, it also has a nice minimalist and contempo design. The speaker is solidly built and it came in a nice package. It sees full duty as my computer speakers via the aux port and part time for my wife's Iphone. I highly recommend this to anyone even at list price. I was lucky enough to buy mine brand new from this site for $60 shipped when it went on sale. I have never heard anything similar come close the the great sound this speaker dock can produce.

5 of 5 Great sound system Monday, May 11, 2009
    KJ from SLC, UT
Purchased this speaker system to use with my nano, and my iPod classic. I like the rubber backers to adjust for the thickness of each iPod. Some docks I have seen use plastic clips, so this was a refreshing new step. Great sound quality, blue light is indeed BRIGHT, and the only concern is the sensitivity of the dial. Sometimes it feels that I just turn the dial, and the sound volume does not change. Remote is a plus. Hope you have room in your garbage can for the boxes this system comes in, well packaged in several fancy boxes.

5 of 5 Great little system Sunday, May 10, 2009
    A Customer from Rockville MD
The speaker is solid...its made from solid wood and you can feel the weight is pretty heavy, this helps to produce good range both high and bass and the volume is loud enough without distorting. At this price, I'd like to hear the speakers that come close...highly recommend.

4 of 5 great product, great sound, great size Saturday, May 09, 2009
    Kim from Boulder, CO
I love the Griffin amplifi. I was hestitant in buying it because it doesn't charge my ipod nano 4G. However, since we have had it, I have been extremely please with our choice. The sound is excellent, it has a clear, crisp sound that you don't get with other docks of comparable prices. It is also compact and fits nicely on our DVD player. I am really happy I chose to go with the Griffin - it is no Bose, but it is the next best thing especially considering the really great price.

    5 of 5 Solid - Great Sound & Style Saturday, May 02, 2009
    Justintime from Santa Fe, NM
This is a very good buy for an iPod speaker system. Great sound (highs and lows) and looks great. Moderately portable - can be moved around the house (room to room), but not useful for lugging around beyond that. Very solid construction. Easy operation, too. Cannot be beat for 50 bucks at Buy.com. Worked with 2G nano and 3G iPod.

5 of 5 Great system, small on midrange Sunday, April 26, 2009
    A Customer from NJ
This is an amazing small system! It has great bass for it's size, and amazing highs. The mid range performance could use some work, but for the price, I can't really complain about the sound. One problem. My newest gen Nano doesn't take a charge from this device, kind of annoying.

4 of 5 She thinks it COOL, the remote... Tuesday, April 21, 2009
    LTran from Atlanta,GA
Plug it in. Place an older ipod on it. Press the button and the music fill my 12 years old daughter's room. She loves it. Oh, she loves the remote, also. She thinks it COOL. For me, since I listen to Thiel speakers at home, then the sound of this ipod speaker system is not up to my standard. However, for the price and the level of interest of my daughter, I give it 4 stars. 5 stars for Buy.com because of their service and quick shipping. Buy again.

5 of 5 Great sound. Great buy. Sunday, April 19, 2009
    A Customer from Ohio
I could not be more pleased with this system. It arrived in a well packaged and safe box (shipping did take a little while, but expected with the free shipping option). I had a altec lansing ipod speaker previous to this and although I was fairly satisfied with the sound quality it did not work with my second gen ipod touch. I don't have any problems with the amplifi expect that it does not charge it but I was well aware of that before hand. The sound is amazing! The bass is incredible for an ipod dock. My favorite part about the product besides the sound quality would be the design. It is designed very well. Very Apple like. Clean cut, basic design great function. The knob is well placed and the blue light is a very nice touch. I don't have any real complaints about the product, especially for the price in which I grabbed it for! Get this item you won't be disappointed.

Excellent bargain for the sound quality you get for the price you pay. It does not charge my iPod Touch (Gen 2)while playing. I have to remove the bottom of the protective case on my iPod Touch before it will fit the docking station. Overall pleased with this product and price.

Glad I didn't pay original price for this, but great value for the price I paid. Good quality, only problem is it doesn't get soft enough. It gets to a level and instead of tapering off, it just drops out. Looks great too.

Nice sound for a good price. Using the iPhone in iPod mode doesn't sap a lot of juice so the lack of charging shouldn't be a deal breaker.

    5 of 5 Wonderful Deal Saturday, April 18, 2009
    pcr from oakland, ca
Works as described. Great Sound. Works with different Ipods here in the office. Nope doesn't do the 3g charging stuff. But what the heck, one usually has a cellphone and a music player. And if they are ipods, it'll work just fine. The price made it have great bang for the buck. Found the input jack for running from headphone out jack on any portable music player including the #G and any cellphone with a headphone out jack, and piping it into the box for more great sound.

Could not be happier with this speaker. It is an absolutely amazing value for for the price. I use it with my 3G iPhone and my girlfriend's iPod Nano 4G. Although neither charge with this unit it's a small trade off for what you get. Bass is fantastic. I have this hooked up to my Samsung LCD TV for movies. Do not hesitate to pick one up before they're gone!

5 of 5 Excellent sound system for a small price Wednesday, April 15, 2009
    rem from san gabriel, california
i purchased this for my 5th generation ipod video and it works perfectly. i also tested an iphone. and though it complains a little, it still works. it also has a 3.5mm auxiliary jack input which makes it compatible with virtually any audio device. what really surprised me is that there's an auto switch that favors the dock connector over the aux input. so now i have another device permanently connected via the aux input. if i place an ipod in the dock, audio from the dock takes over. with the ipod not connected to the dock, the aux input takes over. perfect. no more plugging and unplugging from the aux input when i want to switch the source. and the audio quality is excellent, as many others can attest to.

5 of 5 Solid product from what I could see Wednesday, April 15, 2009
    A Customer from Sacramento CA
Got it as a gift so got to enjoy it a little before it went home to its new owner. From what I could tell, the sound was great given the size of this unit, and it could fill a medium-sized room very nicely. Sleek design and good looking unit and not as heavy as I'd thought it would be; not necessarily made to be portable but definitely light enough to move to another room with ease. Great value for the price here, and arrived from buy.com very quickly. It's limited since you can't adjust much or expand the sound like a receiver, but that's not what it's for. For a standalone iPod player for one room, it's a good buy.

5 of 5 Far Exceeds Expectations Wednesday, April 15, 2009
    Paul from Germantown, TN
This unit far exceeds my expectations. I am accustomed to hearing my daughters Bose Wave Radio which of course, for the price, pleases my ears greatly. However, the Griffin cost me 10% of what the Bose cost and I am 100% delighted with the performance, not just for the price but for the quality and enjoyment I am receiving. Price, of course, is the icing on the cake...thick and rich! Also, a snap to set up and use. Falls into the "idiots delight" category for ease of use and set up.

    5 of 5 good stuff Wednesday, April 15, 2009

This thing has really good sound. It is made of real wood so that helps the bass and gives it a real solid feel. That also makes it a bit heavy. Also, I think it looks better in person, than in the picture.

    Rob from nYc
You simply can NOT beat this deal. Sound is amazing. Price is RIDICULOUS for the quality of sound this thing pumps out. Bass is spectacular. I have this hooked up to my Samsung LCD TV. Couldn't be happier with this dock. HIGHLY recommended! FYI: I have a 3G iPhone and it will not charge it. It will also not charge my girlfriend's new iPod Nano. Not sure about older iPods though, since I don't own one. This is a small tradeoff for what this delivers at this price, IMO.

It worked out of the box as it was supposed to work. It sounds good and was at a good price. I did have to call their customer service about not understanding one of the instructions, but they were fast to answer, helpful and the kind of service you don't see that much of anymore. I would buy it again.

4 of 5 Good sound quality but doesn't charge 4th gen iPod Thursday, April 09, 2009
    Chandu from Folsom, CA
As other reviewers mentioned this is a excellent bargain for the supreme sound quality you get for the price you pay. Sound quality is very really good even at top volume. It seamlessly works with my original iPhone. Product is easy to use, browse through the tracks with in a playlist. It charges my iPhone while playing. One thing you need to know is, you cannot go beyond a playlist, so make sure you create larger playlists to avoid going to next list manually. Though product description says works with all iPod models, it is kind of how you interpret. Yes it has aux input so any player or even a computer which has 3.5mm jack can work with this speaker but not with the provided dock. At least iPod Nano 4th gen doesn't seamlessly work with the dock. It plays music but doesn't charge. If you doesn't care about this, this is a perfect buy. Enjoy your music!

    5 of 5 Great buy! Wednesday, April 08, 2009
    Lisa from San Francisco, CA
I have a Nano 3G and a Creative Zen. The Nano works perfectly and the Creative Zen is easily attached via a cord plugged into the back of the unit. The sound is really good for such a small speaker package and the volume range is great! It is easily brought from room to room and I am going to use it on my deck in the summer. Can't beat the price, it looks good and sounds good, so I'm glad I bought it!!

    4 of 5 Almost Perfect Monday, April 06, 2009
    A Customer from Eureka, CA
The sound's great! Easy to use! One flaw though, it doesn't charge my Nano 4G. I guess this speaker only charge any older generation iPods. So if you have a new iPod, mostly likely it won't charge. It explains why this speaker is no longer for sale on its official website and buy.com sells it so cheap. Oeverall, it's the best speaker I've ever bought. If you don't mind the charging issue, you should go buy one of these!

Extremely easy to use, great sound quality. Love the design too. Can't beat it for the price. I gave 4 for performance because the remote can't seem to turn the volume up as high as turning the wheel. But it doesn't bother me.

5 of 5 Great Affordable Speaker System Wednesday, April 01, 2009
    Rosa from NJ
My husband & I both own iPod minis and so far this has been the best speaker system we have found that didn't break the bank. The sound was so good that we actually purchased a second one after the price fell another $20. The system is solidly constructed and gives BIG sound. So good infact that my musician husband had to comment on the quality of the speakers. When I turn the volume up there is no distortion and the 2.1 speakers allow me to hear the music as it was recorded, different singers tracked on different mics. The main reason why we purchased the Amplifi is that it DIDN'T have a radio or CD player. We were just looking for a quality iPod sound system. The Amplifi is all that and a bag of chips! I don't think I would pay full price for this system, but at the sale price it is a must have!!!

    5 of 5 Fantastic Sunday, March 29, 2009
    A Customer from Hicksville, NY
Finally someone designed a great sounding dock for the ipod. I stumbled onto this accidentally and sure glad I did. I am a huge Klipsch fan and have thier ipod system, but I have to say the Griffin is better. Made of wood not plastic, seperate driver for the bass, that is just plain sensible. I don't expect any system of this size to sound like a full blown audiophile home system, but this sure does rock! If you are thinking and hesitating on buying one, don't hesitate, do it, you will love it. And to top it off the price is right. No complaints at all, nothing I would improve on, it was done spot on, right on, perfect!

    4 of 5 Not great but good . . . Sunday, March 29, 2009
    Don from Pittsburgh, PA
I needed something to port my XM/SIRRUS portable unit to and this unit is simple, good looking and sounds good. Not great, just good. For the price point it's excellent - no complications at all. I've used it with my iPhone but I don't really do music on the iPhone and there are complications with receiving calls when using the phone with any device not specifically built for it.

    5 of 5 My 2nd Amplifi Friday, March 27, 2009
    A Customer from Portland, Maine
I bought my first Amplifi about 1 year ago. I have been more than satisfied. I actually have this in my bedroom on the 2nd floor of my home. I have it hooked up to my Apple Airport Express and have my iTunes play upstairs. Look, it doesn't have a 12" sub and it won't have your neighbors down the street calling the police. But, having said that, the volume level is just right. It gets loud enough for me and the important thing is that it doesn't distort even at full volume. I play trance, rock, gospel, you name it, through this and it never fails to deliver. Good thumping bass. "Clarity" is a word that comes to mind first with the Amplifi. It's rare I buy 2 of anything these days. Most stuff is junk. Period. But the Amplifi, especially at this price is money wisely spent. I see this lasting for years and if you have an iPod, it's hands down the best bang for the buck. My advice? Get it while you can and at this price? What are you waiting for?

    4 of 5 Griffin Amplifi -- Good value Monday, March 16, 2009
    A Customer from Cleveland, Ohio
The Griffin Amplifi is clearly second rate compared to the top-rated and expensive Bose system; both bass and treble lack clarity, and the volume of sound cannot approach the level of the Bose. But at less than half the price, can the buyer expect more?

    5 of 5 Gr8 sound as a floor standing speaker Sunday, March 15, 2009
    gizza99 from Richmond, VA
Griffin 1200-ITSPKR is a compact speaker, with a lightweight remote and nice looks. I tested the speaker with my 1 GB Ipod Nano by placing it at several locations for best acoustics. 1. On wood floor in living room - turn up volume; bass effect is good 2. On wood shelf built-in to a wall in family room - poor acoustics due to location of speaker 3. On carpet in the family room that has basement crawl space underneath - gr8 acoustics here. Turn up volume; bass effect is excellent. Overall - gr8 value for money. For best results, try different locations for the speaker in your home for best sound.

5 of 5 If you have an ipod, you need one of these Friday, March 13, 2009
    A Customer from Menomonie, WI
I have had my ipod for nearly two years and have wanted to buy a sound dock unit now that I have my cd collection on my 30gb ipod. I have listed to the Bose and the Klipsch units and kept waiting to see if the price would come down and am still waiting. I saw this unit on Buy.com and felt for $69.99 what may be the risk, let me tell you this unit has excellent sound that I think is equal to the Bose units my friends have. If you want a docking unit for your ipod this IS the unit to own. I bought another one tonight as a gift for a friend who has also wanted a Bose, I highly recommend this.

5 of 5 Just what my iPod needed Monday, January 26, 2009
    Brian S from Columbus, OH
This unit is rock solid...heavy out of the box and simple in design. It's wood, not plastic. The sound is nice and full, even turned up loud, filling my large, open living space with pleasing sound. I love the Harmon Kardon-like blue light ring encircling the singular giant black aluminum volume knob on the front. In fact, that simple detail is why I bought this thing...it's very satisfying seeing the light pulse when I adjust the volume or change tracks. And the remote is simple and small, but works well in the hand. Overall, I like this spartan music box more than I expected to, based on it's very reasonable price point.

5 of 5 Excellent Quality, Good Sound Friday, January 23, 2009
    steve from Dallas
HIGH QUALITY Impressive overall, great product, packaging - got more than I though I would for the price. I might rate the value differently at the stated MSRP. Simple, sounds GREAT - better than my Bose Waveradio. Wave Radio is a little muffled, this is much crisper, highs are better, bass is tight but present. EQ on the iPod helps tweak the sound. (Klipsch is my favorite mass market speaker brand, FYI) Only complaint is this won't work in a cube (got it for work). Lowest volume setting is too loud. You need a door to close to prevent bothering other workers. Great for an apartment, bedroom, or small living room. Gets LOUD. Did not notice any excessive distortion another reviewer claimed. Perhaps something is wrong with theirs? Blown speaker? Be nice if it had a headphone jack, but the iPod does so it doesn't matter. Plus the simplicity of it is nice.

4 of 5 Big Sound in Small Package Sunday, January 18, 2009
    Blades from Houston, Texas
I bought this for my iTouch 2G, the sound is quite pleasing and large for its size. Lower bass tones are carried through with the ported 5" sub and corner loading the system really sets up a nice solid bottom. Granted this unit will not charge the iTouch 2G or the iPhone 3G as it was designed for charging through the fire wire pins and not USB on the pin layout of the connector(this may be corrected by changing pins on the connector or making a crossover connector... will try that later). The price was dropped $10 further one week after I bought the item so I bought another unit for the office. Cannot beat this price or the quality from Griffin... even with the charging issue. The charging issue is the reason for the 4 in overall satisfaction.

5 of 5 GREAT ITEM AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT HAVE A NANO 4G, T Saturday, January 17, 2009
    A Customer from ACWORTH, GA
Great sound with a small footprint. It works great with our Nano 3G, charges and everything. Will not charge my Touch 2G because it (the Griffin Amplifi) uses a friewire charging system and the newest Ipods use only a USB charging system. But then that is why it is such a great price. Note: It does play the songs on my Touch 2G, just will not charge it. SOUNDS GREAT !!!!
