5 of 5 It WORKS! Saturday, May 26, 2007 A Customer from Houston, TX
I live in Houston and it works fine. You just have to leave it somewhere while it's playing or else you get all this static. There are also certain areas where the reception gets bad and all you hear is static but it doesn't happen too often. Sometime, it doesn't connect to the iTrip and you have to push it in a little harder. Sound quality is average. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Love using my ipod on my car stereo Friday, May 25, 2007 barbshel11 from Kilgore, Texas
The price was too good to pass up and when I ordered it I was a little afraid it was going to be one of those "too good to be true" buys. It is very easy to use and I can even charge my ipod while using it with my motorola phone charger. The performance is good, not great. The reception seems to come in and out at times. But when it is working it is wonderful. Would I recommend it, sure. For those of us that love to listen to our ipod it is a must have. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Cannot use with new ipod nano Friday, March 16, 2007 A Customer from New york, ny
I was a little disappointed when I received the transmitter as it does not work with the ipod nano version 2. This was not listed on the website. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent item for the Nano Tuesday, March 13, 2007 Joe from New York City
I was looking for a way to use my Nano without the earplugs and when I saw this item for the price advertised, I ordered it and have used it in my home, my car and on a portable radio. It works great. The unit attached to the Nano and stays there all the time so it's always ready to use. I usually take it in my car and have a preset button on the FM band that I uae. I am in the NYC area and have not had a problem finding a clear frequency. I also discovered that my Motorola cell phone chager has the same plug and I use it to charge my Nano through this device. When you turn off the Nano this unit shuts off also, no need to disconnect it. Buy it, you'll love it. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great - as long as it is close to your antenna! Tuesday, March 13, 2007 Chris from Norman, OK
Pros: Extremely easy to use - no additional plugs or wires in the car. Frequency selection is totally customizable. Very sleek - about doubles the size of the nano. Can't complain since I got it for a great price.
Cons: Drains the battery fairly quickly (probably close to seven hours of use). Signal is not incredibly strong, so it works well as long as you have it close to your antenna and have it on a station which is not being used (which can be a challenge in a major city).
Other thoughts: If you don't want to mess with hard wiring, or don't have a CD receiver with an auxiliary input, this is great transmitter. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Not for 2nd Gen Nano (aluminum) Monday, March 12, 2007 A Customer from CA
The dock connector and headphone jack do not line up with the second generation nano (colored aluminum cases). I took some wire cutters to clip out the headphone jack and move it over a little. Everything works fine. It is nice to have a cordless unit. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Only good for first generation Nano! Monday, March 12, 2007 A Customer from Boston, MA
The price was pretty good for the iTrip but it only work for the first generation Nano and not the newer models (the color one).
Trying to find a station that will work is a difficult plus there are some statics on most station. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 OK product Sunday, March 11, 2007 A Customer from Nashville TN
The product is easy to use and is a good value, but you get a lot of static even when on an open frequency. Must manipulate to get the device in the best position for clear listening. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Not as impressed as I'd hoped Saturday, March 10, 2007 ElectrOdude from St. Louis, MO
This FM 'broadcaster' unit fits well with my Nano and works as advertised - although with some interference sometimes. It's nice to be able to listen to podcasts over the car radio without earphones or wires! The little sticky tape that is supposed to keep the Nano attached doesn't work very well though. Overall, not disappointed with the unit given it's affordable price for this capability. I got this unit for $19. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Not for Gen2 Nano Tuesday, March 06, 2007 A Customer from Corinth, TX
Note that this product does not fit a second generation Nano. There is no possible way to get it to work as the connectors won't physically fit. The value is definitely good if you have a first gen, but I can't really comment on how it works; thus the mid-level rating. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 found a way to charge it Friday, November 03, 2006 A Customer from teaneck, nj
this transmitter is good for its price stated. as compared to all the other wired ones in the market. the best part is that it stays as one pice and i tried using a moto razr charger(which i had in my car) for it and it worked. so now i can charge my ipod and listen to music... 1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Good buy... but... Monday, October 30, 2006 purav from Detroit, MI
Works fabulously 90% of the time. Remaining 10% of the time it gives a lot of static.
Most important issue with the product is that it drains the iPods battery not during normal operation but when left on standby. I use it to listen to music in my car on my drive to work and back. In between I leave the iPod connected to the iTrip and I carefully turn the iPod off before getting out of my car. The iTrip turns off with it but when i return to my car after 4-5 hrs, I sometimes see the iPod and the iTrip being on. It completely drains the battery. No matter how cautious I am for turning the iPod off and putting it on hold, I do see the iPod and the iTrip on after being left alone for a while. I do not like to detach the iPod everytime i get out of my car coz i fear damaging the port.
May be its a geniune issue, may be its just me...

A great price for this transmitter. Fits well with a Nano and the reception is good. The down-side of not charging is an issue, but an understandable trade for the size and ease of use with this model.
There are no cables or mini plugs to wear out with everyday use. For this price, it's the best option on the market. Was this review helpful?

Pro:
Changeable frequency (international capable)
Sleek design
Low price
Cons:
Static - I still need to try different frequencies though
Have to turn the radio pretty loud - I think that's true on all FM transmitters
Have to remove the Nano from it's case to use it.
All in all, for money, it's a decent product. Was this review helpful?

The nano fm transmitter works excellent. Works best on 87.9 fm. i use it at the beach, in the car, it gets good signals everywhere. There is minimal static if you hit bumps when you are driving but thats about it. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 What could be simpler? Thursday, May 25, 2006 Mark from Washington, DC Area
This is one sweet little device. And it really couldn't be easier to use. Unlike the previous incarnations, where you had to load 65 iTrip "station songs" onto your iPod, this baby is self contained and ready to go.
I had no trouble setting it up and the sound quality is really very good. I live in the DC area, and there are boatloads of radio stations, but I had no issues isolating a frequency to use.
If you've got a nano, you want this sled! Was this review helpful?

I don't have any complaints about this item. I drive in the Philadelphia area with no problem. For $30 bucks, I can't see how the value can be better. I guess it would be better sound if it plugged in directly, but I'm in a car not an amphitheater. There are a couple tricks I've heard about, and they probably apply to all of these things. Set it on Mono, you are not losing that much quality (I didn't notice any). Also, if you connect a mini USB wire to the bottom it acts as an antenna. I haven't done this because I really didn't see a need.
If you are looking for a FM transmitter for the Nano, this is the easy choice. Was this review helpful?

I don't think it's good for my area (NYC). Too many radio stations crowding the airwave... Was this review helpful?
13 of 16 customers found this review helpful. 1 of 5 Great design; poor performance Thursday, February 23, 2006 shopper125 from Reading, PA
The iTrip by Griffin is absolutely the best designed FM transmitter for the Nano. Unfortunately, its performance doesn't match it's looks. Regardless of which frequency I chose, I coudn't get static free sound. And, the normally high quality performance of the Nano was lost. Highs and lows dropped out, and my Nano often sounded like an AM radio. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that since the iTrip draws its power from the Nano, instead of from the car power port, it just doesn't have enough output for high quality sound. What a shame.
