Many of the artists included are legendary as well; names like Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Conway Twitty, and Buddy Holly certainly live up to the title of the compilation. Many are less well-known but their songs are familiar, including Mark Dinning ("Teen Angel"), Johnny Preston ("Running Bear"), and Jim Lowe ("The Green Door").
