"He was gliding on the edge of the abyss..." (from the first line)

Dr. Emma Watson is chosen to run a series of NASA experiments aboard the space station to monitor how Archaeons adapt to zero gravity. But the true origin of these single-cell organisms are kept secret from Watson and even NASA. Soon the world is threatened by a terrifying new disease.

Annotation:
On a massive space station, the Earth's first full-scale orbital research station, a team of scientists are examining a variety of microbes, including one dubbed Chimera that has been disguised and smuggled aboard. When it gets loose on the station, the scientists are confronted battling an enemy that has the ability to replicate any DNA strand that it comes into contact with.

He was gliding on the edge of the abyss.

Below him yawned the watery blackness of a frigid underworld, where the sun had neverpenetrated, where the only light was the fleeting spark of a bioluminescent creature.Lying prone in the form-fitting body pan of Deep Flight IV, his head cradledin the clear acrylic nose cone, Dr. Stephen D. Gliding through that soft rain of debris, he guided Deep Flight along theunderwater canyon's rim, keeping the abyss to his port side, the plateau floorbeneath him.
