5 of 5 When simple is really SIMPLE Sunday, April 20, 2008 cecilden from Minneapolis, MN
I wanted to convert an old PC to run BeyondTV, a personal digital recorder, but needed a way to hook up the PC to my TV. This product did the job and was so simple to set up and operate, I was amazed. It produces excellent quality! I did learn something in the process. You do need a good quality coaxial cable to get the good quality onto your PC in the first place. I had an old cable which I discovered was the source of poor quality from the cable company. Now that it is replaced, the Grandtec faithfully gives me high quality on my TV. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good device Tuesday, December 04, 2007 Hansen from Provo, UT
We are using the GEZ-1000 to convert a computer presentation VGA signal to Coaxial/BNC so that we can send it through our already installed cabling (so that we don't have to run a cable on the floor all the way) from one room to another room in our building). In the latter room, we plug it into a projector to project the orginal image in the 2nd room. Unfortunately to make the presentation clear in the 2nd room, the computer resolution has to be dropped to it's lowest setting (800 x 600 pixels), but at least it works. We've tried other converters that didn't work. The other problem is when we try to use the fine tune or size button, we can't tell if the image is being adjusted in the other room without going to the other room. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Plug and Play Thursday, March 15, 2007 Tosin from Brookly, NY
Pro: All cords are included. Does what it promises.
Con: Regular computer quality isn't that great on the TV, but you are probably only using this for videos, which quality is pretty good.
Overall: Great product especially if you have a subpar videocard, which is why you bought it in the first place. Cheap, and works well. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Plug and Play Thursday, March 15, 2007 Tosin from Brooklyn, NY
Pros: All the plugs you need are included. It powers off of USB on your computer, and that's it. You can keep your regular computer monitor still plugged in to the Grandtec so you can see normally. It's just a hair grainy. The picture quality depends on how you tune the little box, and what the resolution of your computer is set to. The smaller the resolution, the better the overall quality (640 better, 1028 worse)
Cons: Your computer stinks, with no real video card, so you had to buy this to make up for it. The overall quality for regular computer use is poor if you have your screen set to the smallest setting. But the video quality is pretty good for what you need.
Overall: I think this product is excellent if your video card is subpar, and you just want to watch your videos on the big screen. It helps to also have a line-in or 1-2 audio cable and you can have your own home theater based off your computer. It does exactly what it promises. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just what I needed Friday, January 12, 2007 A Customer from Cleveland, OH
This is great for watching DVDs using your computer and also good for video games on analog TV.
If you need high quality text you should go with component video avilable on the higher end systems. You will also need a digital TV. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It works as described Friday, December 08, 2006 A Customer from New Castle, PA
This item was easier to connect than I thought. I used the S-VHS cable (supplied) and connected right from the Grandtec to the input on my VCR. The picture is very clear, no discoloration or distortion whatsoever. The print is small, you could try to enlarge the text size on your browser--haven't done that yet. When playing video from the PC, the picture is very clear on my TV. The price is excellent as well. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to transfer from PC monitor to their TV screen. One reminder, if you want to transfer audio, you need to buy the audio cable they show in the manual. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 61 Inch Monitor with No Distortion Sunday, June 04, 2006 Titan66 from Rochester, NY
This thing is simply amazing. There is no other way to expain this. I was hesitant in purchasing this because i didnt know if buy.com hadnt changed the picture of the Grandtec product. There is a newer version of this out and it is just one solid cable with branching adapters. But i did recieve the item as shown, with all the cables i needed. This is nicer because you can replace the cables if you need longer ones. Also this has a zoom-size feature if you need the font to be bigger. The fine tune button is suppose to "fine tune" the picture but it doesnt seem to do much for me. The small font is blurry but its good enough that you can make out the words. It might hurt your eyes after a long amount of time. This thing is the best accessory ever invented. I am now sitting back in my recliner with a wireless keyboard in my lap and a mouse on my end table looking at a 61 inch tv. The picture is not distorted and fits perfectly on the screen. If you want to play games like counter-strike or watch videos through the dvd player on your computer, or a clip on you tube. this thing is definitly for you. Its not the best for emailing or instant messaging though. Another thing is dont buy this if you need audio into your tv, because this is just video. I am completely satisfied with this item. 2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Good deal! Sunday, May 07, 2006 Martin from Philadelphia, PA
Good ol' Buy.com came through again! I don't know how they do it, but they had the lowest price on this that I could find. I bought this so my girlfriend's mom could watch some Real videos on the TV.
I'm not sure why it didn't work when we hooked the laptop to it, but it works fine with the desktop. Both PCs were set with the required resolution, color, and scanning frequency. On the laptop, you could see the logon screen and everything else in Windows. When you started up a video in RealPlayer, the player would open fine but the area where the video should be was just black. I tried the adjustments on this unit and it didn't do any good. Again, everything else in Windows showed up fine, just not the actual video in RealPlayer. I assume it has something to do with the frequency, even though I did set it at 60 hz. The video does show up fine from the desktop though.
Pluses:
+ Comes with all the necessary cables
+ Great price
+ Compact, nice looking unit
+ Real video looks pretty good on the TV
Minuses:
- Very sparse documentation
- Even though the Real video shows up fine on the desktop, text in Windows is barely legible - you can't even read the names of the icons on the desktop. It might just be the TV we used it on (Panasonic 50" plasma).
NOTE: This unit does video only. You can run the audio through your PC as usual, or get a cable to hook up your PC audio output to the TV. Was this review helpful?
