Notes & Personnel Info |  | The second volume of Got Hits, released two years after the first, is rather different from its predecessor. Several songs failed to reach any form of chart in the U.S., and the makeup of the set is slanted heavily toward teen pop from female artists (or, at least, more adult-oriented pop that kids won't find to be too aggressive or somber). Since only a few songs here will be instantly recognizable, the disc really doesn't live up to its title. Notable inclusions: Liz Phair's "Extraordinary," Hilary Duff's cover of "Our Lips Our Sealed," Joss Stone's cover of "Some Kind of Wonderful," and Jump5's cover of "God Bless the USA." ~ Andy Kellman | | Although many music fans think of the Beatles or Beach Boys when the idea of "perfect pop" is mentioned, that term means something a bit more contemporary on 2005's GOT HITS 2: MORE PERFECT POP. On this tween-centric compilation, starlets Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan offer the rocked-out tunes "Come Clean" and "Ultimate," respectively. Former indie queen Liz Phair sneaks in among the kids with her anthemic "Extraordinary," while Skye Sweetnam offers up the cheeky "Tangled Up in Me." Although the disc features mostly female artists, performers ranging from Rascal Flatts (who weighs in with the twangy "These Days") to Lil Romeo (on the fast-flowing rap hit "My Cinderella") represent the boys. Those wanting to dance aren't forgotten either; GOT HITS 2 makes sure to include upbeat tracks by Vengaboys and Mr. C the Slide Man, rounding out this fun, highly accessible collection. |
