Welcome to quaint Stars Hollow, Connecticut. People often mistake Independence Inn's manager, headstrong single mom Lorelai Gilmore, and her equally willful teenage daughter, Rory, for sisters. Lorelai and Rory cope with the same emotional ups and downs, including Lorelai's overbearing, old-money parents and the joys and frustrations of the male gender. This heartfelt, humorous drama appeals to young and old alike with its blend of traditional family issues and hip, contemporary attitude.Format: DVD MOVIE

"...wittier than most other sitcoms, warmer than most dramas.  US Today
"...a really good show. When it's good, it's fantastic. It's moving, it's surprising, it's complex.  ePinions.com
"The coolest mother-daughter act around.  Janet Weeks, TV Guide
"...[a] heartwarming family drama...the only show on television that could leave both Quentin Tarantino and any random grandmother satisfied.  Keith Phipps, The Onion A.V. Club

Editor's Note
Set in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, GILMORE GIRLS is a charming television drama that tells the story of a 30-something single mother, Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), and her precocious teenage daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), as they navigate their way through the shifting tides of daily life. Lorelai and Rory's relationship is one built on friendship as much as maternal love, allowing for more drama and depth than most family shows. This release is a perfect way for fans to remember why they fell in love with the show in the first place, and allows latecomers to discover Lorelai and Rory for the very first time. The first six seasons of the show are included in this collection.

Professional Reviews

The DVD Report 9 of 10
Nominated for 1 Emmy and 1 Golden Globe in its first five seasons, Gilmore Girls has experienced much greater success among TV viewers than among industry critics. In fact, the show is the first script supported by the Family Friendly Forum's script development fund to go on and become a regular television series. Part of an initiative between The WB Network - maker of such hits as Dawson's Creek (1998), Felicity (1998), Angel (1999), and Smallville (2001) - and fellow industry executives, this push for more family-oriented programming resulted in a series showcasing a unique mother-daughter bond and the various people they encounter on their life voyage of discovery. Set in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, Gilmore Girls utilizes many of the same sets as the hit series The Dukes Of Hazzard (1979) - another successful Warner Brothers production from years past...A borderline soap opera, Gilmore Girls is more of a serial drama that focuses on the love, friendship, and shared growth of a mother and daughter as they live out their dreams in modern day America... - Britt Gillette
