I use this adapter to copy photos from my camera's CF (compact flash) memory card onto my computer. It's light, small enough to carry in my camera bag at all times and it transfers files as fast as my computer's USB port can accommodate them. The files move much faster with this adapter than by connecting my camera directly to my computer. Although many new notebook computers have slots that will directly read xD and SD memory cards, most don't have slots that will accommodate CF cards. Therefore, this is a useful and inexpensive accessory for photographers on the go.
