5 of 5 7 Months of Use - Still Love IT! 8/4/2008

During my previous review, I had barely used my Garmin zumo 550, but it has now been 7 full months of use and can say, this is the best portable GPS. I don't have anything to compare that too (have never owned any other types/brands) except the only thing I find troublesome is the same thing I had a problem with before - using the bluetooth through the car. On a bike, with a wired connection, the sound is great, the turn by turn navigation is clear and music is easy to navigate. I don't have XM (which this can be used as your satellite receiver (with an optional antennae)). The search feature is great - searching for specific addresses or general types of locations (restaurants, gas stations, stores, etc.). Google now has a feature to search on your computer and send to your Garmin (check out garmin.com for more info). I really could go on and on about this unit and Buy.com for service price and shipping speeds (I have no affiliation with Garmin or Buy.com). The most important thing about this unit - 99% GLARE FREE! However, it does have some trouble with Polarized lenses. But if you have a full face helmet, for some reason that cancels out the "blackening" effect...you can also turn the unit slightly to reduce this effect as well. Good luck and happy riding!

I bought this GPS for use both in the car and on my motorcycle. Although I haven't used it on my cycle yet, I wanted to review it from the car perspective. It works well, is easy to navigate screens and enter destinations. It is very sturdy and because it is waterproof, it is sealed all around. It comes with both a car and a motorcycle mount. I've had some troubles with the bluetooth connection in the car - although it paired okay, I can't seem to have it come through the car...not quite sure why not - but I haven't played with it enough yet and when I'm in the car, I'm usually driving, and this is NOT the time to play around with it. It does, however, have a setting that allows you to change your safety settings - so you can drive and enter information if you WANT/NEED to. Can't wait to use it on the bike this summer!
