I was happy with this purchase. It is an older, discontinued model, but satisfies my needs. It speaks street names, which was a good feature for the $160 I paid.

This is my 2nd GPS since the first one from 2000 (a Garmin StreetPilot Color). I've used many over the years. Technology has come a long way. Now the small unit contains all the maps, routes quickly, and provides text-to-speech voice. Overall this is a great unit doing what one might expect, especially given its price. It does have some little quirks though. The menu takes a little getting used to initially, and on rare occasions it confuses "left" from "right." Having to flip up the antenna is annoying, but one gets used to it. I wish it could adjust the voice volume based on the vehicle speed or ambient noise (like my car's radio), but I'm probably expecting too much. I'd highly recommend this unit to anyone who never had a GPS before. Just be careful not to depend on it too much -- you'll no longer be able to go anywhere without it!

Not knowing too much about GPS devices, I based my decision solely on product descriptions and other people's reviews. After buying this product and using it for a while, I am pleasantly surprised by the unit's ease of use and features. I highly recommend this GPS, especially for the price.

Item works exactly as advertised, with no problems. I've used the Garmin brand before, as well as a couple of other brands, and much prefer the Garmin.

I have used Neverlost (Magellian) in hertz cars for years so I know what to expect and what feature I wanted that would improve the experience. The Garmin Nuvi 350 packed a lot of features I was looking for, like street name recognition, easy user interface, and easy easy to use. It came within a few days of ordering it, and I had it in use the same day. I would definitely recommend this if you want a great gps, without a lot of bells and whistles the newer models have.

THIS IS A REPLACEMENT NUVI 350 FOR MY WIFE, (HER OLD ONE GOT STOLEN). WE HAD THE OLD ONE FOR ABOUT A YEAR, AND THE NEW ONE IS THE SAME EXCEPT IT CAME WITH THE MAP UPDATE THAT GARMIN WANTED ME TO PAY 70.00 FOR TO UPDATE THE OLD ONE. USER FRIENDLY!

I bought this for my wife. I have the 330 model which is easier for me to use. I'm not one of the 'atari age' kids, so modern electronics are more difficult for me. From people I talk to and personal experience, Garmin navigators are the only way to go.

Very intuitive and easy to use. Handy to have when in unfamiliar places or lost. GPS tracks almost as soon as you turn it on. I keep my dock mounted on the front window and its very easy to remove/replace the unit from/to the dock to take w/ you or store in the glove compartment when leaving the car.

This is the second GPS I've owned, and much better than the first. Compact size, battery life, ease of use all pluses. Unit volume (hard to hear over radio), accuracy of directions (it'll get you close, but not necessarily right where you need to be) are minuses. Bought it for my wife who has very little patience for technology; the ease of use makes this unit a winner.

Garmen products are very good I have Gps Plotters on my boat thats the reason for buying a road verson the only problem I found was the maps were 2006 meaning the unit may be old stock I have had problems with downloading the new maps also have had problems aquiring a signal in Boston and Easton Ma. which may be a fluke or potential antenna problem.

This product is amazing! Easy to use, reasonable price, and opens up a whole new way to navigate travel by car. I've always experienced anxiety when I needed to venture into new areas of the city or beyond, and this little gem has given me an opportunity to say 'yes' to new places!

The 350 is my first Nav and I would highly recommend. Very easy to use and dummy proof. The voice commands come through clear and are easy to understand.

We bought the Nuvi350 for a trip our family was taking involving stops at 2-3 different places a day for a week. The GPS came pretty much ready to use right out of the box, but I updated the software on line. This was a very smooth process. Functionally, the GPS has worked very well. We entered most of our destinations in ahead of time and stored them in the "favorites" section. This made operation very simple. Only one address was not on the map (some friends who lived in a part of a development that had just been built in the last year or two), but we were able to get "close enough" directions for an address on the same street to find our destination easily the "old fashioned" way. We've also used the "find food" and "find fuel" functions and are very pleased with both.<p> Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking for a simple GPS that doesn't break the bank.

For the price of this gadget, I think it is good. However, I experienced some direction confusion the first few times when I was testing the GPS with known direction in mind. Maybe it is because the area I live in that the GPS doesn't have the most updated information or something, the GPS guided me into a dead end. I have learned that it's the best not to toally rely on this GPS. Just follow the suggestion after you are completely clueless what direction you are heading too. One thing good about this GPS is that when you re-route, the GPS recalculate very fast compared to my older model 3 years ago.

It's a nice experience when you visit a new city and not to have to worry about getting lost. The NUVI 350 is a great tool. It may not show you an optimal way to your destination, but it will get you there. The GPS helps erase the anxiousness when I am in a strange place. It worths spending the money for a peace of mind. Over all, this is a good GPS but there are 3 things that I don't like about the NUVI350: 1) It takes a while for the GPS to boot and load the map. 2) It takes forever for the GPS to locate a satelite signal on a cold start. Worse, you cannot drive while the GPS is trying to locate the satelite after the cold start. You just have to sit in the parking lot and wait until it gets the signal. That may take 3 to 5 minutes. 3) The pronunciation of street names or places is terrible. I have to guess the names most of the time. Oh, if I am really picky, I'd say that I hope the GPS would provide me an easier way to choose a different route, but I'll mangage. Despite the problems, I still appreciate my GPS very much for the peace of mind it gives me.

Great GPS , I dont know what i would do without it in PA. Good reception , fast recalculation. The only problem I experienced was POI distance. For example it might say that gas station is 5 miles away on POI screen but when u actualy get there it is 12 miles away. It is very unpleasant when you are looking for gas station in the middle of nowhere and your tank is almost empty. I hope it will be fixed in next update. Overal it is the best GPS i had so far and very easy to use.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter for Christmas. I have since tested it and found it to be more reliable than my Tom Tom 910. The maps seem more up to date and it acquires satellites faster. The unit is also nice and compact, yet the screen is very visible. I will switch to one of these if my Tom Tom quits.

Yes, as you can tell by my rating it's one of the best gadgets I have ever purchased. Very happy with the product. One word of advice to buyer's is to register and order the latest map set (FREE) from Garmin. Big difference in the operation of the unit.

Very easy to use and move from one vehicle to another. Definitely not for the person needing a handheld GPS for treking in the wilds. Maps are not as current as I had hoped for. The maps do not contain data for shopping centers completed two years ago. Map shows my home on a non-existent road and the road I live on, approximately one-forth mile away; ther is no road where shown. (Lived in the same location for eleven years.) Accurate directions for locations in the database. The database needs to be updated.

The Nuvi 350 was priced attractively, and so I took a chance. I have a nice GPS system in my car, which works well, but isn't very intuitive. The Nuvi was portable, so I thought it might be nice for walking tours. Alas, it wasn't too much more intuitive than my auto GPS. Putting in your current location takes a lot of screens and was tough to find the first time - it seems that a good GPS should be able to tell you where you are, right? However, it doesn't, and each time I changed locations (I travel a lot), I had to change the home base to get accurate directions. For this much money, you'd think the software would be better. Since I'm not familiar with many other GPS units, I can only say be sure you compare and see demos before buying.

I have test it over and over again and it has taken me to within ten feet of my address.It has been wrong in telling me left from right when i got there but, that is a minor issue. the screen is great during the day or night, the voice direction is clear,& the map is not to busy, it even tell you the name of the area, the parks, & the lakes. Perfect the states tha you do not live in. Great gift.

I am a truck driver, so my nuvi 350 is my best friend. I really like the idea of the SD card slot. I can play my favorite music, and view my pictures of my family. It is the best thing for a truck driver on the road. The only thing I don't like is when you pull up a POI(restaurant). It does not put them in alphabetically order. My old gps unit did that, and made thing faster and easy. Also it would be nice if you can put more than two stops at a time. My route consist of at least 18 to 36 tops.

I have had the 350 for about 3 months and it is a valuable source of information and direction. I have bought the European module for my trip to Spain this Christmas. It is easy to use and easy to store favorite places. A good buy

I am enjoying the Nuvi 350. After spending a month in LA on business and getting the Garmin C500 series with my rental car, I began to wonder just WHY I was spending all that time printing Google Maps and trying to read the map while driving in the LA madhouse! A few things I would like to see different: 1) When using the SPELL function for addresses or businesses, I really wish that the letters were laid out in QWERTY (like the Tom Tom) 2) The ability to pre-load (via USB cable) multiple trip points and save a 'journey' (like the Tom Tom!) 3) A slightly better speaker. It's intelligible but the sound is a bit 'tinny' 4) At least ONE included map upgrade to the next released mapping version. I am worried about it becoming out of date pretty quickly. OR alternately allow the POI and maybe the maps to update online via USB connection Overall I am happy. I rated it with the 4's based on the items above. Maybe I am too picky! The POI functions are awesome and the map accuracy has been great in LA, San Fran, Madison, WI, Myrtle Beach, SC, Laurens, SC, Raleigh, NC, and Toccoa, GA.

The first time I used a GPS unit was back in August when I visited some friends in New Jersey. My friend let me use his GPS for a couple of days, and I just loved it. I shopped around when I came back to Michigan, and bought the Nuvi 350 - got an excellent price from buy.com, almost $40-50 lower than retail. And both my wife and I love it. It has directions with the street names called out, it is very compact, comes with a nice leather pouch, has the windshield mounting kit, and has an in-built MP3 player, with a SD card slot. You can close your eyes and buy this model. Doesn't require any downloads, it comes pre-loaded with maps, and gets automatic updates from the satellites. Don't go for the cheap ones, if you prefer compact designs, a little bit more functionality with the street name call-out. It also has an excellent feature of finding local businesses, etc. acts like a mobile yellow page-finder. Go Blue, Go Pistons, Go Lions, Go Tigers, Go Red Wings

This device is being used by me since 10 months. Previously I borrowed from a friend who was out of country and then I decided to purchase it. I took this to many long trips and it worked all the time. It was able to identify the routes in all the terrain. Also, I like the best when it gives me option of simulations. It tells me the routes its going to take upfront and then if I want to override some route using my knowledge about that area, I plan in advance. Overall its one of the best invention of this modern era.

I have been using this for a while now and it works just as advertised. The voices are good and understandable. I like that it speaks the names of the favorite locations when you get there. The accuracy is also very good as is the speed that it recalculates new routes. I wish the maps in some locations would be just a tad bit newer. Around PA there are some locations that are just not on the map but I am sure they'll be on the next update.

This instument is not for the faint-of-heart. I feel it is difficult to use with an ponderous Owner's Manual (72 pages, downloaded). Here in California I can't put it on the windshield and my dash is too rough to stick the holder. It (I should probably say "she") takes practice and doesn't always give me the shortest route. We took her to Oregon and Washington from San Francisco Bay area and am still not sure why stange things came up on the screen. I'll keep trying.

+ good mounting device that can go anywhere + 100 times better than tomtom + more point of interests + faster in recalculating - voice not that clear, but ok - battery standby only 3-4 hrs other than that, its a excellent product

I have the Garmin iQue 3600 which I love, until I got the Garmin Nuvi 350. It's sooo simple to use and my husband who I couldn't teach how to use the iQue 3600 can use this. We were out antiquing and needed to find a bathroom (McDonald's usually)and the Garmin found one right away. I miss not having the phone#'s from the iQue 3600 but it's no big deal. I use the Audio Book feature every day as I sit in traffic a lot.

great gps system for the money. easy to use right out of the box. very little learning curve involved. it isnt foolproof, but it gets you there. love the text to speech so you dont have to take eyes off the road or traffic. the mounting system seems a little fragile but should last with a little care. wish the additional maps weren't so expensive to buy later. would really like to get the maps of europe for a later trip i have planned.

The GPS worked well but there was a learning curve that I had to climb during the first real time use. It was a problem understanding some of the verbal direction and street names. Using the written direction helped mittigate this problem. The users manual is somewhat vague on installing additional data. This review is based on a limited 9 day use in a strange city.

Out-of-the-box I am disappointed in the Nuvi 350's sound and voice quality. I was a happy c330 user until I left it in a rental car and replaced it with the Nuvi. The size of the c330 unit, although a drawback to portability, gave it a deeper more understandable sound tone. In comparison, the Nuvi has a tinny sound that is difficult to understand. The foreign dialects are also hard to follow. The Nuvi was a trade of size for voice quality.

Cheapest GPS with TTS{Text to Speech} and its from Garmin.. trust me when i say this, I checked every other store and website for a better deal and i couldnt find one.. Buy.com gives the best price on this product! My first one had a missing part, so Buy.com replaced it free of charge for me.! I m very happy with Garmin..

The Garmin Nuvi has performed flawlessly in its giving accurate directions and quickly recalculating the route if you missed a turn. I performed a test in getting directions to a place I know and the Nuvi's directions were the same as the route I would have chosen. On a second test to a place I know I specifically ignored the directions and the recalculated route again was one I would have chosen. The voice commands are clear and concise and the screen is easy to see even with sun glare. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone seeking an after the market GPS.

A little slow in rerouting - but by deliberately missing turns in an area i know - it rerouted correctly. Did find that roads having a right turn only - tells you to turn left. Maps is apparently outdated, even though I have the latest updates. Overall I think it is a great buy.

I was looking for a no hassle navigation tool for my vehicle. I found it with the Garmin Nuvi 350. There are scant instructions and set up information in the box. To my delight not a lot of instructions are needed. The installation, initialization and use are intuitive. After charging the battery, I took the unit outdoors. It acquired the satellites and set itself up within a few seconds. Included in the box is an AC, vehicle power and USB cable that can be used to recharge the built in batteries. A PDF version of the users manual is pre-installed in memory. A USB connector enables connection of the Nuvi to your PC. Navigation of the built in memory is easy. Files can be written to memory using your PCs operating system. Entering locations is straight-forward. The Nuvi 350 has a complete build in database. The software quickly narrows your location search as you enter information. Landmarks, restaurants, and gasoline stations are pre-installed. The unit quickly and seamlessly recalculates when I decide not to follow its recommended route. The only short coming that I have found is the inability to easily show a map of an entire route (start to finish). I also use Microsoft Street and Trips. It allows for trip planning in a way the Nuvi does not. Overall, I recommend that you buy this unit.

I bought this unit because I had family that uses Garmnin. I used a low end Magellan once and was not satisfied. I have been very satisfied with this one. It works very well. I had one area where the voice told me to turn, but map showed me going straight (which was right). It's not perfect, but minor problems seem to the exception, not the rule. If you have the money, I might opt for the more expensive ones with the FM transmitter to play the GPS thru your stereo, or XM (which does traffic and weather with a subscription). I have not tried the traffic function on this one as the traffic receiver is $$$ ($180). Definetly recommend this if you travel. The POI function is awesome as when you look up anything it gives you the phone number. Great for lodging or calling ahead for take out food.

Friends of mine that have other brands are sorry they didn't spend a few extra dollars. This thing is awesome. The Points of Interest are absolutely great when you're on vacation. Even the restaurant info is pretty accurate for those that stay in business for longer than a year. The WAAS satellite option gives you accuracy with 11 feet (not bad at 70 MPH). I haven't regretted buying this at all. You can pay more and get more toys, but this one works great for me.
