nuvi 270 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps for both North America and Europe, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nuvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. In addition, nuvi 270 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs.

Like the rest of the nuvi 200-series, nuvi 270 sports a sleek, slim design and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot.

Navigation is just the beginning. nuvi 270 includes many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. It also comes with Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature, and configurable vehicle icons that let you select car-shaped graphics to show your location on the map. 5 of 5 easy to use Thursday, February 19, 2009
A Customer from Toms River, NJ

Fast shipping. Item arrived and was very easy to use. It sometimes takes a little while to start-up and acquire the satellite. I used it on a trip to San Diego and it worked great. I will not be in Europe until May to test how the European maps work. I think it is a great value at Buy.com.

5 of 5 Great value for NA & European maps.. Tuesday, February 17, 2009
A Customer from Midland Michigan
Arrived timely, loaded with 2009 maps. After registering with Garmin had choice up upgrading either map to 2009-1. Chose Europe since going to UK in March. Was looking at Nuvi 760 and adding European maps to it but couldn't ignore the differnce in cost and can live with smaller screen and fewer features. Great product.

5 of 5 Very good GPS Thursday, November 06, 2008
A Customer from Houston, Texas
Bought specifically for European maps. Used in Italy. It was extremely useful while I were driving in Milan or walking in Rome. Easily located near by subway station, hotels or restaurants. Helped against taxi rip off. Using it I realized that our driver drives loops. Little bit slow for driving in European city. Overall great purchase.

5 of 5 Compact, easy to setup and use Tuesday, October 28, 2008
A Customer from Cedar Hills, UT
I bought this as an early Christmas present for my wife and was worried it would be complicated to setup and use. I wanted to take it on a trial run or two before getting it to her. However, she found the package from the shipping company before I did, and before I got home from work, she had it running successfully in her car and was thrilled about it. With all the preloaded maps and directory info, I couldn't ask for a better unit. The graphics and voice are clear and easy to understand, not annoying. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the boot up time, but it really isn't that bad for what we got in it! Thanks Garmin and Buy.com for a great deal!

5 of 5 Great product Monday, October 27, 2008
Costantino from Winfield, Illinois
The main reasons I purchased the Novi 270 are: When driving at night it is great help in finding addresses when street signs are difficult to read. And we are planning a trip to Europe in the next year or two and plan on taking it along. The GPS works wery well and do not have any complaints,

5 of 5 Excellent Product Tuesday, October 14, 2008
santiago b. guzman from USA, NJ
When i first saw the nüvi 270 i was in love. I travel allot to Europe, all over the US and Canada. Having a pocket size navigator like the nüvi 270 with maps of all the areas i go to is a blessing. Without the high cost of adding maps and memory the nüvi 270 is a steal, but not because of the maps, but because it offered ease of use and excellent search for something so small. I have already used it in Paris and the way point pinpointed me to the pubs, schools and hotels without any issues. The only complain i have is NO traffic add-on or voice street names. But I still give 5 stars!!!

4 of 5 This is a fantastic value Friday, October 10, 2008
Tim L.K. from Honolulu, Hawaii
I've used my Nuvi 270 both in Europe and Asia (with additional maps on the SD memory card)and found it very reliable although the some of its routing was neither the shortest or quickest. I also have a TomTom which I've used much longer than the Nuvi. While I prefer the graphics and routings on the TomTom, the Nuvi is much more user friendly than the TomTom, especially when you have to making changes on the fly. Another advantage for the Nuvi is the expansion capability of the Garmin with a larger library of maps and options than its competitors such as TomTom and Magellan. The only thing I miss on the 270 is the blue tooth connectivity provided by my TomTom. However, the price of a Nuvi with blue tooth and european maps was more than I was willing to spend. All considered, I think the Nuvi 270 is a tremendous value

4 of 5 Excellent GPS for exceptional value Monday, September 15, 2008
A Customer from Washington DC
This GPS is excellent and ofcourse great value, however the only, I repeat the only negative about the software compared to Magellen is if you turn off the voice, the software does not magnify the TURN ARROW adhead in about 1000 feet and as you approach the turn, it decreases the distance to about 100 feet before your turn. Thats my pet peev. Also, the shortcut routes are not very precise as the Magellen.

5 of 5 Saves both gas and time Tuesday, August 26, 2008
Don from Mundelein, IL
I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 270 prior to my recent trip to Italy for my daughter's wedding. It was the only reasonably priced GPS available in the U.S. that came with European maps preloaded. It was priced almost equal to what it would have cost me to rent one in Europe. As father of the bride, I was also primary chauffeur for many of our guests. Travelling the hills of Tuscany was a challenge in itself, the Nuvi 270 did an outstanding job of keeping me from getting lost and wasting gas that was $8.50/gallon. Several times I thought that I was in an alley or private parking lot, but that was usually before I heard those beautiful words: "arriving at destination."

5 of 5 Better then my TomTom One Monday, December 17, 2007
Aubrey from Columbus, MS
I wish I had bought this one first! I must say I was impressed with the TomTom until I used the Garmin. The major fallacy of the TomTom is that annoying auto-zoom that takes you down to the lowest level, not to mention that it won't let you zoom all that far out. Thankfully, the Garmin gives you full control over the zoom and stays at whatever setting you leave it. I can't explain how critical this is to usability. Other features the Garmin has over the TomTom: trip page (really cool for long trips), light sensitivity (changes to night mode automatically), photo viewer, and a better mounting system. So is it ALL good? No. The TomTom has updates and auto-correction features - a Garmin with this would be the best thing since sliced bread. The TomTom actually gives superior directions as well. It has an uncanny ability to pick the best routes. I live in the middle of nowhere (Mississippi) and it knows routes that I didn't think possible from a GPS. The Garmin, however, was not as accurate and selects oddly roundabout directions on seemingly simple routes. It doesn't add that much driving time and would be perfectly fine if I didn't already know my way around, but it just isn't as good. Here is the kicker, though - you are at the mercy of the TomTom's directions. The minimal ability to USE the built in maps in a real-time manner had me pulling over quite often to make sure I was indeed going where I want to go. This is not an issue with the Garmin. This is hard to explain, but experienced GPS users know exactly what I'm talking about - and novices should just take my word - despite the TomTom's ability to give better directions, the Garmin is a much more USABLE system. It's an excellent bargain and there is very little to complain about. Simply put, I don't think there is currently a better system for the money.
