    The product is actually a key used to access the Garmin download site on the internet through an account that needs to be set up if you don't already have one. I have a DSL connection and it took a long time to download and then extract and install it to the GPS. I just left my PC and went and did something else so I am not sure of the time but it was over 2 hours. No problems with the actual process just slow. I do think it is the best value to buy this subscription instead of yearly updates.
