I had to make a trip of over 2,000 miles and this GPS was a lifesaver! Easy to use, very intuitive and relatively precise. Apparently, in small towns, the updating service isn't done quite often, as we got a couple of false hits for a Shell gas station and a Burger King in Wytheville, VA. In Baltimore MD and vicinities, however, the instrument worked flawlessly. I have it for less than a month, so, can't evaluate it's durability. Overall a great buy for a reasonable price. As for Buy.com, the buying process was trouble-free and the delivery was very fast. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Slow to locate satellites Wednesday, September 03, 2008 Chitown from Chicago, IL
This product is easy to use, however it takes up to 15 min! to locate satellites. It "gets lost" on streets that are not straight, example Wacker Drive in Chicago,it starts giving a new direction every other second. If you are patient and need something when you travel, this is a good value product. For me the battery doesn't last 5 hours, 3 the most. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Garmin Nuvi 260W: A Great Product Monday, September 01, 2008 W.R. L. from Las Vegas, NV
The product functions exactly as advertised. It came in good condition and in a timely manner. The only function I have not found but would very much like to have, and the Nuvi 260W may have it in some menu I have not used yet, is a way to arrive at a location that was not typed into the unit, press a button and have that location saved in "Recently Found" for recall.
I am well satisfied with the product and with Buy.com. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 great product - easy to use Tuesday, June 03, 2008 A Customer from Lancaster, Ohio
We recommend this product. It is worthy of the price for the verbal street names, instead of just distance to turn. We used one without the names spoken on vacation and it was sometimes hard to figure which street we should turn on. This product has been great out of the box. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome & Easy to Use Monday, May 19, 2008 Mike K from Deer Park, NY
There is a reason that garmin is the market leader: quality product. Simply put - it was out of the package and I was using in 5 minutes. The features are well thought out and it is very intuitive. I know that some vendors have some pretty incredible products with some really forward thinking features, but for me the ease of use and quality directions are what it is all about.
My only knock on the product is that I did not realize that I had to select a different voice then the default for text to Speech. I am sure that it says that in the manual, but honestly, I never even opened it. Other than that, I am a very happy customer.
Oh - If you switch cars alot, definitely buy the bean bag / no slip car mount. It is a little pricey but totally worth it. I just came back from a 10 day road trip out west and it made life alot easier with the frequent car stops. Was this review helpful?

First, I have bought numerous products from Buy.Com and am very pleased. Always quick delivery (though I always choose the slowest delivery option) and very good prices. I have reached the point of confidence and satisfaction where I now buy products from Buy.Com even when they aren't the lowest price although that doesn't happen often.
Regarding the Garmin (my wife calls it Jill), we immediately took it on a 2400 mile trip and couldn't be more pleased. If that is the only time we used it, we got our money's worth. It was easy to use, and provided good directions. It isn't perfect but neither is my wife who was my previous GPS. Local knowledge is always the best but there is a lot to be said for a system that can give you directions in downtown Dallas in a "moderate" tone without any harsh language while you are focusing on avoiding collisions. It also tells you sufficiently in advance when to turn so you don't spill your coffee making a last second turn across two lanes of traffic. I have never heard anyone refer to a GPS as a safety device but I think of it that way now. The 260W announces the road name rather than just the distance until your turn and that came in handy several times when distances between roadways was fairly short. My wife likes the GPS which surprised me and said she feels less pressure to navigate. She still take an active role in all aspects of navigation and driving although now she does neither.
