5 of 5 Excellent all-around handheld GPS Wednesday, March 11, 2009 gpsperson from Philadelphia, pa
Everything about this unit is excellent. It was designed with the consumer in mind. THey don't nickle and dime you for features like the other manufacturers. For example, This unit comes with the USB cable, wrist strap, even batteries. It has connectors for Serial and an external antenna too. Lots of free software is able to interface with the unit and the GPX files it produces. Not to mention Linux (see gpsbabel).
The one complaint I have is when I look at my trips on a map, sometimes there will be one point that is way way off and all the rest are ok. It happens at least once every trip. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 GPSMAP60-really good investment and ultimately use Tuesday, January 22, 2008 A Customer from Virginia Beach
A very handy upper-mid level gps unit, the gpsmap60 works well in almost all conditions. 20-30 degree weather quickly killed the batteries in probably under 6 hours if exposed and not in a pocket. Otherwise it is fairly accurate deppending on whether it has a clear read of the sky. In dense forests or houses the unit reads weak signal unless you actively find a clear shot up. Dropped it in the muck under a foot of murky water, found it 30 sec later, still works just fine weeks later. The track and waypoint system works, but I think you need some mapsoftware to really take full advantage of it. Was this review helpful?
