| | | What If You Finally Got Your Big Break...And You Just Plain Sucked? Features: DVD, Widescreen, Pan and Scan (TV Format), Aspect Ratio 1.85:1, Dolby Digital (5.1), English, Spanish, Subtitled, Dubbed From the director of the ground-breaking film I, Robot comes this hip, sexy comedy about a garage band with everything it takes to make it to the top...except talent. Waiting for their big break, a group of young rockers and their clueless manager can't keep their heads on straight--or their hands off each other. Loaded with sex, drugs and rock 'n roll, Garage Days proves you don't have to be a rock star to party like one! "What MTV's "The Real World" would be like if its characters admitted they were simply aspiring actors." Collin Levey, Wall Street Journal "Visually inventive and refreshingly witty... showcases a smart young cast." David Stratton, Variety "...colorful characters and a couple of hilarious scenes." Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
 Editor's Note
Director Alex Proyas's (THE CROW) GARAGE DAYS sheds light on the world of struggling musicians, sexual misadventure, drug experimentation, and mental instability in Sydney, Australia. Freddy (Kick Gurry) daydreams about being a rock star, but faces seemingly insurmountable problems as he tries to get his band kick-started in the DJ-saturated bars of Sydney. To make matters worse, Freddy's relationship with his bass player, Tanya (Pia Miranda), breaks down when he has a fling with Kate (Maya Strange). Kate just happens to be the girlfriend of Freddy's guitarist, Joe (Brett Stiller), who subsequently quits the band and loses his mind in the process. A lucky liaison with the manager of a big rock band nearly gives the struggling band their long-awaited big break. But as the personal problems escalate, it becomes apparent that the passion for music that brought the band members together could be the very thing that tears them apart.Proyas delivers a fast-paced comedy with a good mix of CGI-assisted trickery, a script full of human warmth and tension, and a series of fun-with-drugs interludes. The film works with themes on the perils of love and substance abuse, while the chemistry between the characters and the infectious nature of the story will have audiences rooting for the band as they attempt to make their chaotic rise to the top.
