4 of 5 Microscope Saturday, February 16, 2008 A Customer from Dunkirk, MD
I bought this for myself, but I was a little disappointed in the overall quality of the product. It would be better suited to a young person, but the vials are difficult for a youngster to open. The slides are very small and made of cheap plastic, not glass. The slide covers are extremely dificult to separate and handle. They are nothing more than VERY thin plastic, and don't stay on the slides well. The scope does have a light, that was a pleasant surprise. Uses two AA batteries. Was this review helpful?

1200x for about 50 bucks was a exellent deal. Although the structure itself was a bit shaky, I was able to view the inside of a termite's gut, swarming with microscopic protozoa. I recommend this product to any one, from little kids to high school students. It is very easy to handle( even if without the manual), and apart from the plastic components, it is sturdy and durable.
Note that it comes with a mini projector you could attatch to show to multiple people. I really liked the brine shrimp too, although they wern'tas important. The lights are a bit tricky, as they may dim and flicker from time to time, so I recommend good batteries. If you look in to the scope too long, it hurts your eyes. The surgical blades were nice and the blank slides allowed me to seee almost anything clearly.
There aren't much in this box, but why pay for what you don't need?
Overall, I really liked this scope, due to the fine magnification and its smoothness.
Good luck if you're planning to purchase this ^_^ Was this review helpful?

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and completeness of the kit. Everything worked as advertised. I purchased two of these kits, one each for nine year olds and they both were able to follow the instructions and begin their scientific investigations. Was this review helpful?
