5 of 5 Great machine Saturday, December 06, 2008 Charlie from McLean, Virginia
I have had the machine one month now. It is very fast compared to the HP 3330 multifunction machine that I previously used for scanning, printing and photocopying. I scanned an 80 page screenplay and converted it with 95% accuracy (mainly reduced by marginal notes) to Microsoft Word format in less than 15 minutes. The slowest function now is me selecting the name for the scanned document and putting it in the correct file on my computer. The organizer program allows you to select the folder that you use the most for automatic filing of documents (File/Shortcut to Folder). Duplex scanning seems to work well as well the automatic document feeder. Now I automatically have those store terms that are preprinted on the back of receipts. Adobe Acrobat Standard 8 software with machine is great on Windows Vista Business computer. I will probably migrate from a multifunction printer to the ScanSnap, a flat bed scanner for bound materials (hopefully few), and a laser printer. The footprint for all three machines will be larger than for a home office small business multifunction but scanning speeds for the multifunction printers are just so slow in comparison if you are trying for a paperless office. ScanSnap has worked as well as I hoped. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Fantastic, the scanner I have wanted for years Wednesday, September 24, 2008 DNDDooley from Lawrenceville, GA
I have bought 4 scanners not including this one starting in the late 90s. All with the same goal, going paperless in my home. This is the one I have been looking for everything scans quickly and easily. I scan reciepts for warranties and important papers like money market statements, wills etc. I also now have to scan receipts for expense reports, wich is great I scan the individual receipts and send away. I can't say enough good things so I will use the rest of this space for the bad. I could not wait to start scanning so the three cds worth of software wore on my patience, necessary I know. A large paper manual is included with the scanner hated to throw it away but no room in a paperless office. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 is absolutely the most f Monday, September 15, 2008 A Customer from San Diego,California
The Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 is absolutely the best scanner for under $450. It scans very fast, does double-sided scanning without your having to flip the pages, and in color, too! You can save the resulting pdf file on your computer, upload it to RELAY(R), save it into a CD, or send it by fax or by e-mail. No ink, no toner, no paper, no clutter, and no more filing boxes. Everything is searchable and available at your fingertips. What a saving! What a great way to work productively and help reduce global warming. Every realtor, every professor, and every lawyer should have a Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 in their office. These are the three industries that are required to save files for a long long time in their daily transactions and research. I hardly use my printer now. I wonder why so few people know about it? I am the second person in our real estate office of 120 employees to know about this product and to own it.
Buy.com's service is so incredibly efficient. I got my Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 scanner the second day after I ordered it, even though it said "2-day ground delivery"! Wow! These are the two best decisions I have made this month. Bought the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 Scanner, AND bought it from Buy.com Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A NICE COMPACT SCANNER Saturday, May 10, 2008 J. S. from Tewksbury, MA
An excellent professional duplex document scanner that folds up when not in use. Scans both sides to make for fast quality scanning and excellent rendering of whats scanned. Folds up into a nice compact unit for traveling using a travel bag designed for it. The software package that comes with it is also very good including Adobe Acrobat 8 Std. You still need a Flat Bed Scanner for Photographic Work. Was this review helpful?

I was so excited at how easy this machine is, I literally spent 12 hrs the day after I got it scanning EVERYTHING in my house (most time spent trying to figure out what to name docs). Double-sided docs are no problem as the software can auto-delete blank pages. I reduced 2 file drawers to about a 6" stack of necessary originals. Receipts are auto-recognized at their original size. Use the "keep scanning" setting for large or unmanageable docs - if you have a stack of nice/junky papers, shoot the nice through, hit the button again, do the junkies one by one, etc. - the "keep scanning" allows it to remain ONE document. If you've ever had to re-scan entire a huge stack of docs on a copier repeatedly just b/c it missed one page, you'll know how precious this function is! Use the "better" setting for good, low memory docs. I put everything on a memory stick and it is SO CONVENIENT to carry around and access files for our three businesses. BUY THIS RIGHT NOW!!! 5 of 5 Not cheap, but works great! Wednesday, January 16, 2008 jon from Ann Arbor
I heard about the Scansnap series from a buyer's broker in Northern Michigan. We are upgrading our office and after trying this unit for a week, I plan on buying 3 more for the rest of our office in Ann Arbor.
Installation was easy, learning the software was very easy, and the scans look great.
It is a little expensive compared to what a lot of people are using but it is a great product and will save us a bunch of time. Was this review helpful?

A friend of mine that I went to school with years ago showed me this scanner at his home office and talked me into it as I was complaining of the filing cabinets I had at home full of old bills and paperwork. I gave in and bought this and it has been just over a month and WOW, is this thing worth the money! Fast, easy and does a great job at scanning everything from receipts to bills to checks and oh, did I mention it scans both sides.
Look, like most people I am hesitant to spend this kind of money on a scanner and I have NEVER written a review, but this device works and all I do now is scan in bills, use Adobe Acrobat (I own the professional version) to note when I paid the bill and I save it to my computer then I SHRED the paper. I save all receipts and all documents from everyone with the scanner now. It is worth the money and the time - you will love it - trust me. By the way, I have my computer set to weekly backups with mozy.com over the internet to make sure all bills and information are backed up. Check that out as well. Hope this helps! 5 of 5 Super Scanner! Thursday, November 29, 2007 A Customer from Granada HIlls, CA
I have only used this item three times (and only scanned to email as the scan to word didn't include the entire document..may only need tweaking but I've had no time) but I am delighted with it. It's true that the set-up is easy. Multiple pages fly through quickly & accurately which is important to me.
I was concerned about spending so much money for a home office machine but this scanner was a wonderful choice for me and well worth its price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Scanner! Very durable. Wednesday, November 28, 2007 K-Techie from Camp Hill, PA
This is one great scanner. Scan directly to PDF's. Two sided scanning in one pass, very quick. I've purchased 6 of these for field use. There's hardly ever one available, all are checked out! Must have for the paperless business. If you are going to carry these around get the case that's made for it. You won't be sorry. SCANSNAP CARRYING CASE - PA03951-0651 Was this review helpful?
