Making sure the perfect shot is captured Face Detection technology by Fujifilm uses an exclusive hardware based system to optimize focus, white balance and exposure for up to ten faces in a single frame. Using Face Detection with an 18X long zoom means that users can accurately focus on faces from long distance and concentrate on framing the perfect shot. Also, leveraging Face Detection technology, the S8000 feature the new Red-Eye Removal feature, which can detect and remove red-eye as the shot is taken. S8000fd offers ISO1600 at full 8.0-Megapixel resolution, and ISO6400/ISO3200 at 4.0-Megapixel resolution so important for high quality pictures in low light or freezing fast-moving subjects. The S8000fd takes advantage of this high sensitivity with Fujifilm's Intelligent Flash system, which controls power output to achieve natural foreground illumination with balanced background exposure. Also, Dual Shot Mode takes two full resolution photos in quick succession - one with, and one without, flash. Both photos are then displayed side by side for quick comparison so users will never again be left struggling with flash settings long after the moment has passed. After much research on digital 18x zoom cameras and reading every review I could find on this camera I made the decision to purchase this one and I couldn't be happier. I have had such fun taking pictures of the leaves changing, my son's haircut (went from very long to very short),and at the high school football games. Was even able to zoom in on the crowd across the field and take a picture of my friend's niece. I am not a professional so I may be simple to please but I love this camera! Was this review helpful?

This is my first digital camera all my 70 plus years I have used film cameras and it is a new experience to say the least.
This fuji camera has so many options for so many different ways of shooting pictures that I am using the auto mode for the time being till I become more acquainted with all the options, I really like the camera it has enough optical telescopic range so there is no need to carry other lenses as I had with the film cameras, so far I would recommend this camera and also buy.com for the price and quick service. Ever since I heard that Fuji was planning on releasing a camera with an 18x zoom, I knew that I had to get one.
This camera is everything I was hoping for. It's nearly impossible to take a bad picture with it. It's fun to use, easy to learn, has an incredible zoom range, and it's very easy on batteries (I use rechargeables).
