“This album coincides with a happier time in my life. I think it’s very obvious in the music. It reflects how I’m feeling now, the joy that I have in my marriage and family, and hopefully in the future.” -- Diana Krall

Album Notes and Credits

Notes & Personnel Info
Personnel: Diana Krall (vocals, piano); Anthony Wilson (guitar); Robert Hurst (bass instrument); John Clayton (bass guitar); Jeff Hamilton (drums); The Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.
On 2006's FROM THIS MOMENT ON Diana Krall returns to both a repertoire of classics and to her big-band sound, and the move feels like something of a homecoming. Krall's vocal and piano performances ring with authority and elegance throughout; her subtle and sultry approach sounds effortless and unmistakably artful at once.
With a track list that includes "Little Girl Blue," "Willow Weep for Me," and "Isn't This a Lovely Day," one might worry that Krall is treading too-familiar territory here, but the Canadian singer puts her distinctive stamp on each of the 11 compositions. The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra provides some serious swing on the uptempo numbers, but it is Krall's gorgeous, melancholic ballad treatments that steal the show.

Diana Krall - From This Moment On - CD

Opening with a wispy brush snare and joined with a light piano accompaniment, "It was a Beautiful Day in August/You Can Depend on Me," is breathtaking. When Krall's sultry voice breaks in, teasing and flirting with the listener, the end result is extraordinary. It is another example of the theme that runs this entire CD. ...read the full review

Bio
With her pre-bop piano style, cool but sensual singing, and fortuitously photogenic looks, Diana Krall took the jazz world by storm in the late-'90s. By the turn of the century she was firmly established as one of the biggest sellers in jazz. Her 1996 album All For You was a Nat "King" Cole tribute that showed the singer-pianist's roots, and since then she has stayed fairly close to that tradition-minded mode, with wildly successful results.

5 of 5 She does it again! Tuesday, October 03, 2006

If you are familiar with Diana's music I am sure you will agree this is another superb disc. There seems to be alot more big band back up on this one and it sounds sooo good. I recommend this to any jazz lover or big band lover. Diana has talent that is unsurpassed. Her smokey voice is as smooth as a good scotch and her fingers on those keys give me goosebumps. You did it again, Diana...Thanks !
