That said, this collection marks the first occasion that most of these versions have been available on CD--most of the "official studio versions" eventually appeared on the band's first two albums. Of particular note are the seven minutes of instrumental, raw, driving groove "T.V. Catastrophe" (a.k.a. "O.D. Catastrophe"), the alternate mix of "Walkin' With Jesus," which cleans up the sound considerably while amping up the echo, and "Fixin' to Die," a weird gospel-like number with chanted backing vocals. Spacemen 3 fans usually fall into two groups; those who like the harsh, garage-rock of the band's early recordings, and those that prefer the smoother, tranced-out vibe of their later recordings.
