 Editor's Note
This computer animated film picks up where the Playstation FINAL FANTASY VII video game left off. Cloud, the hero of the game, has retired into seclusion, but when a mysterious and lethal disease known as Geostigma begins to spread across the planet, and three powerful, villainous children appear, he reluctantly emerges to face the new and mysterious threats. Featuring some of the most spectacularly lavish computer graphics ever created, ADVENT CHILDREN continues the complex and compelling tradition that has made the Final Fantasy series one of the most popular games of all time.

4 of 5 A fantastic film Wednesday, June 07, 2006 A Viewer from UK
One of the best films i have ever seen....the graphics were great and they did a brilliant job of recreating the characters (except Red XIII, Cait Sith and Marlene).
The voices too were brilliant (except for the characters previously mentioned) and the best of all was sephiroth. you could tell he was dark yet he showed it in a calm and laid back way, knowing what he was doing.
The only thing i dont like about it is the ending, but i dont want to spoil it so much, so see it to find out.
The plot on the other hand was not so nice, the only characters that actually had a proper role were CLoud, Sephiroth, a little bit of Tifa and some of Reno and Rude. It was more like a little section of FF7, only excluding characters.
The battlescenes were nice, which nicely included all characters fighting together (in one battle) and of course, one on one battle (this only including Cloud).
Overall i say this is a good film and worth the money but it could have been longer and included other characters a bit more. Would make a brilliant game. Was this review helpful?

Lets get one thing out of the way--Advent Children is the pretiest movie you'll ever see! Plot and "acting" aside, FF:AC will wow you with its technical prowess and shows off what could be the first stepping stone to what people will call "near life-like" graphics. The way the characters move and the environment they inhabit suggest that in a couple of years we might see the realism that can be called perfect to the real world.
Now that that is out of the way we can continue with the rest. If you are NOT a Final Fantasy expert or fanboy, you will NOT get half the content of this movie. This was made purely for the Final Fantasy fans out there. And if you haven't played Final Fantasy VII at all, you will probably be left wondering what they are talking about, and why these people are up-in-arms. You will have to read-up on some history to get what is going on, or just play FFVII to fully understand it all, and why we should care about the protagonists.
I will not waste time here explaning the plot (there is one but just not very defined for the masses to understand), suffice it to say that there are bad guys wanting something that might bring about the end of the world...or something like that. But even though you might not understand what is going on, you can be sure that you will be entertained with just how crazy good looking this movie is. If you like fireworks, then this has it in spades; however, you will not find much else here if you are looking for depth and character development. You will find that if you play FFVII.
