I admit it - I'm hooked...Ive seen "Element" 3 times in theaters -- dragging new people with me each time -- and have brought it for viewing at other friend's homes. I even own it on LaserDisk (remember those?) And now ordered it on DVD. The rhythm of this film is mesmerizing, the details are incredible (the "lifeboats" departing the cruise-station, alone, is worth the price). The only thing I haven't figured out is the "true" meaning of the red-black goo running down the foreheads of the Admiral and Zorg, when under the influence of evil... Was this review helpful?

This movie is phenomenal on so many levels. For those who didn't like it, thank God I don't know you. One other thing for you sceptics; those denying the existence of killer robots may be killer robots themselves. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Flick Friday, December 03, 1999 cappyx from Orlando, Florida

I know the critics panned this one but they really missed the boat. It has a wonderful sense of humor, great action scenes, top notch actors, incredible editing (the lift-off scene is worth watching over & over), incredible special effects sequences, the soundtrack is fun, plus it deals with the basic moral issue of Good vs Evil on a grand scale. It has become a family favorite- even my husband, who kept leaving in the middle when I played it, saying 'this movie is too wierd' - has finally come to love it. Favorite lines: 'Chicken Gooood!' 'Lilu Dallas, Multi-pass!' 'Don't watch it all day sweatheart- it'll rot your brain.' 'Perfect.' I heartily recommend it! Was this review helpful?

I made the mistake of seeing this movie in the theater. About halfway through, I told my husband I was going to the restroom.... I actually just wandered the theater halls, thanking god I wasn't watching this movie. Where is the plot? I just couldn't tell you. Still, my husband loved it, so I'm buying it for him. I thought this was another weird movie my husband wanted to watch on HBO; I agreed to watch because Bruce Willis was in it. I was surprised and thrilled at this wonderful movie. The cast is first rate (especially Gary Oldman and Ian Holm), the plot is multi-leveled, and the edgy cinematography adds to (not detracts from) the over-all experience. Watch it more than once to understand more of the plot. It gets better every time. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Greatest Sci-fi movie since Star Wars Triology Thursday, August 26, 1999 A Viewer from Pittsburgh, PA
This movie has greast action scences and a comple plot of good vs. evil. If you like high impact movies, you'll love this one. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best futuristic movie since Blade Runner! Friday, August 20, 1999 Ed Stoddard from Seattle WA
All the characters do a wonderful job. Oldman makes a great villian, a guy you love to hate. Bruce, the reluctant hero who realizes he can't let the perfect women be without love, helps Milla (elou) in her quest to save the world. The supporting acting is great, too. Most who like Blade Runner, and futuristic movies in general, will like this one! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Serious holes in plot but very fun & color. Thursday, July 29, 1999 A Viewer from Clinton, MD
Serious holes in plot like Leeloo didn't know how to speak English but managed to spell out 'help', why did the villians bother to impersonate Korben at the airport when they can obviously fly to the cruise ship themselves, what did Zorg want with the stones himself? I can go on and on. BUT for some reason, I still like this movie because it is fun in a cartoonish kind of way. I couldn't stand Cris Tucker's performance though. Very annoying. Milla (Leeloo) is just a babe. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Can't stop watching it! Wednesday, July 28, 1999 Clark Peterson from Guymon,OK
I'm a movie person's movie person, but rarely do I find a movie that I can still enjoy watching after seeing it three or four times. I'm watching 'The Fifth Element' now for the eighth time and still can't leave the room without pausing playback. Nuff said! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Dumb plot - Great movie Wednesday, July 21, 1999 A Viewer from Pittsburgh, PA
Okay, so the plot is dumb. Pseudo-Egyptian -meets- Futuristic Alien Culture, caricaturish evil villains and a threat to the future of the planet hinges on one (albeit perfect) woman.
Still and all, the cinematography is just gorgeous, the score is great, and then there's Milla Jovavich (Leeloo), beautiful and talented, a joy to behold.
See this movie, it's great fun. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Are all the elements here? Wednesday, July 14, 1999 IronLung from Layton, UT
This is a good movie with some very cool effects. The plot is the best part of the movie since the story line is very original. However, the acting and the writing keeps the movie from being excellent (remember, it was written by a 16yo). I'd definitely recommend the movie based on the visual joy-ride you'll experience and the story, but don't expect to be lost in the characters. I'd hold-out for the widescreen version since you'l what to see and hear everything! Was this review helpful?

If you love sci-fi action movies, this will blow your mind. It is not only a great movie through and through, but it also has an amazing babe (Milla Jovovich) as one of the stars. A must see/buy for any sci-fi fan. Was this review helpful?

Fifth Element is the best movie I have ever seen and it is the only movie that I vatched over 3 times (6 or 7 times). It is a movie that literally takes you to another world, and when it ends you cry out for more. Was this review helpful?
