5 of 5 Great home office shredder Sunday, December 04, 2005 A Customer from St. Louis, MO
Works perfectly, shredding up to 8 pieces of paper at once. No problems at all. Was this review helpful?

This is my third shredder. This one's been trouble free for 2 years. Mainly use it for junk mail -- i.e., all those credit card offers. Shreds everything, including staples, paperclips, and those annoying fake credit cards that come with the offers. I rate it a 4 for performance because although it's quite powerful, if you throw an entire envelope of junk mail at it, it'll sometimes hiccup if you feed the mail bottom or top first. No security issue feeding it this way since it confetti cuts. The confetti cut waste is much, much more compact than the strip cut stuff. I find myself dumping the basket only once per week or so, versus every 3 - 4 days with my older shredders. Seems to be built to last. Very quite and shredder head's got to weigh 10 - 15 lbs! Only downside is that unlike strip cut shredders, confetti cut shredders require periodic oiling of the mechanism. This one recommends once monthly. I do it whenever I get around to it. No problems so far. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Rocks! Thursday, April 07, 2005 A Customer from NYC
This puppy rocks! I had a strip-cut lower capacity models and it got gummed up. This is powerful, more secure, and takes ANY 8 quart bags Was this review helpful?

This unit is compact and robust. The visible parts are all metal, the motor is high torque and relatively quiet (cheaper models sound like a power drill). I use it for light shredding... no not shredding lights... but the manufacturer allows 5 sheets at a time which is much more than my average use. The top comes off the waste bin and has a kill switch so it can't accidently turn on.
I don't know how to unjam it since I haven't yet had a paper jam. The manufacturer suggests reversing the motor to push out any jammed paper. They suggest regular oiling with a non-petrolum base lubricant (coincidentally sold right here at this web site). Was this review helpful?

Quiet, smooth operation. Basket fills quickly, so don't overfill it. Window area to view level of shredded paper is nice. Don't forget the lubricating oil that is recommended. If this lasts for many years, I would give it a complete 5 star rating. My last two other brands of shredders lasted only 2 years. Seems to be a solid model. This one is more expensive, so I expect many trouble-free years from it. Was this review helpful?
