We had purchased several shredders from staples and officedepot, they all struggled to keep up with the rated capacity. Either they made a loud noise or got heated after 2 or 3 shredding cycles. Frustrated with these shredders we finally decided to get the SB-97cs powershred from Fellowes. From the time we unpacked to now, we have been very happy with it. It shreds with easy effortlessly, it is relatively very quiet compared to other counterparts. It has a 17 page capacity with smart sense so if your fingers touch the opening it stops. It also is jam-free. Shreds CD's, papers with staples, credit cards etc. This is the only shredder you would need. Its worth spending the $$ to get this one if you have a relatively medium to high shredding need at home. Go For it, you will not be disappointed.

Not the first I've used...just the first I've owned. This shredder makes all the others I've used look like "slack jawed" beginners. It's a truck...a diesel truck...built for the long haul and then some. Some half wit junk mailer sent me an envelop with a nickle taped to one of the pages inside. This shredder chewed its way to the nickle and went into reverse...I found the money with some serious battle scars. It's like the machine wanted another try at it. It has functioned fine after what, most likely, would have spelled the end to most shredders out there for private use. I've worked it hard and it doesn't even breath hard. I love this machine.

Easy to use...shreds paper, staples, cds, and credit cards wonderfully...solid build...quiet. It is a little big and a little heavy though.

PRO: I began using this shredder right out of the box 2 1/2 weeks ago. A very quiet, powerful & compact machine. I've tested the advertised max # sheets per pass & the time length of operation and both were on target (17 sheets/20 min runtime). I was impressed with the cd rom/credit card safety shield. CON: The product name should be corrected. Remove CONFETTI cut from the name, this unit is definitely a cross cut shredder. After 2 years of using a confetti cut shredder, it'll take some time to get comfortable with a cross cut. OVERALL: Pleased with the performance, definitely a good buy.

Although the Powershred 97c has more power and capacity , 17 sheets per shred , it is much quieter than it's little brothers with better shred bin size . This is my second Fellowes shredder and I look forward to dependable and perfect operation as was the case with the last unit witch is in the possetion of another person and still in service at their location .

Although the product is more expensive than a smaller shredder, it was well worth it. I received much more in value than what I spent in price.

This is a great product and a welcome change after having owned 2 smaller home shredders that didn't last 9 months apiece. The SB97Cs is very quiet for the size and power. I have never had this machine even start to bog down when shredding and have never had a jam. It even came with bags and a small bottle of oil for lubricating the cutter. The large capacity bin is also a plus. The only drawback being that it says it is confetti cut when in my perception this is strictly a crosscut machine not the tiny microcut diamonds I had in mind. I would definantly buy this shredder again.

This shredder is very good, and really does shred 17 pages! I tested it! At first I had some reservations, but once I shredded a whole stack of papers, all doubts were gone. Even my wife was impressed. What I really like about this shredder is the size of the bin, unlike before (had a small shredder), I don't have to empty this 20 gallon bin frequently. Fellows sells 20 gallon bags for these shredders, but I bought 30 gallon bags for $5, and they serve the purpose.

I have a small business where I am shredding documents all the time on a daily basis so I needed a shredder that can run 30 minutes at a time in some cases. This has got to be one of the best shredders on the market for business use. I can easily fit a kitchen trash bag for easy emptying and the touch sensors work very well it shuts off as soon as you touch them. I can shred my cd’s or credit cards and when I get credit card offers in the mail I don’t open them, I shred the entire envelope. Best of all it’s 10 times quieter than my previous shredder! I have no complaints and I am glad I got it from buy.com because it was on my doorstep in 2 days. 2 thumbs up!

We are in the process of scanning all old records into our computers and shredding them. I have burned out 2 smaller shredders, that could only handle 7 pages at a time, barely. We are very happy with our Fellows Powershred. It handles up to 17 pages easily, as well as shredding old CD's and DVD's. It is very easy to use and has a great safety feature.
