5 of 5 4 minutes from box to up-and-running Monday, December 22, 2008 Anne from Redondo Beach, CA
I purchased this Fantom drive at the recommendation of my IT guy at work to get photos and music off my computer's hard drive and free up disc space there. Out of the box, attached the base, plugged in, one minute to reformat for use with my Mac, and it was ready to go. Great product so far. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great Monday, October 13, 2008 A Customer from Portland, Maine
This unit worked great with both USB and Firewire connections. It is speedy and smaller than I expected. I have backed up 3 computers and still have plenty of space.
I didn't realize that it used a 6 pin firewire connection. I have a PC and my connection is 4 pin. I just happened to have a 6 to 4 pin cable for my video camera so that worked fine, but I would have had to buy another cable if I didn't have that one. It does mention it in the specifications, so anyone with a PC and not a Mac should be aware of the need for a 6 to 4 pin cable or adapter. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 quiet, efficient, boxy Thursday, November 29, 2007 A Customer from Santa Barbara Ca
Although it's nothing to look at, I like this hard drive and how well it meshed well with my Mac. Its nice and quiet. I put some burningman stickers on it to dress it up, and all is good. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Solid Unit Thursday, September 27, 2007 Mac User from Belleville, NJ
Owned a few of these over the years in different capacities. All solid units. Great for data back-up and photo archiving. Some have complained about the blue LED, but it's inconsequential. Better to have a sturdy HD. Reasonably priced (with rebates or free shipping, usually). A good buy. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Works as Advertised -- No Complaints Wednesday, September 26, 2007 Randy from Saint Paul, Minn.
This drive is used for video editing on a MacBook Pro, so we reformatted it to the Mac file system to handle the large files. We use the Firewire connections for reliable transfer of video files and to daisy-chain devices. It has worked well so far and gives us a lot more room to keep multiple versions of a project. It's very quiet and compact (smaller than another Fantom drive purchased earlier and holding 200Gb). I wouldn't hesitate to get another one. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Drive! Thursday, June 07, 2007 A Customer from st louis, mo
Looked at a lot of drives and even more reviews and this is the one. Worked well with XP as well as OSX. Does what its supposed to and isn't very loud. Using it as a media server and has good reaction time and sleeps well. Blue light on front is very bright and annoying is my only complaint. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good and easy HD to use Wednesday, May 30, 2007 A Customer from Dirty Jersey
Still somewhat new, but it was easy to set up, but the firwire didnt work, but i dont know if it was my computers fault or the HD's. But the usb 2.0 works without a hitch. I recommend this HD for anyone looking for something easy to use and something not too steep. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Firewire rocks! Monday, May 28, 2007 Uli from Rochester, MI
Had half a dozen external drives so far, and this one is the fastest due to the Firewire connection. Lots of space for all my digital pictures and other data - a great backup device. Good deal with the rebate too. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good drive, good price. Saturday, May 26, 2007 reson8 from Islip, NY
I am very happy with this drive. My only complaint, along with the other reviewers that mentioned it already, is that the blue power indicator light is way too bright. Other than this minor "issue", I definitely recommend this drive to anyone. Easy setup, good price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Super Easy Installation Friday, May 25, 2007 A Customer from Maspeth, NY
I just received my Fantom Titanium External HD.
I definately recommend this product. I was able to open the package and start copying files on to the HD in about 5 minutes. Seriously easy to use. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 I like it Friday, May 25, 2007 A Customer from Utah
I've been very pleased with this drive. I particularly like the fact that it has a power save mode so that if I haven't used it for awhile it stops spinning and cools down. I have a 250mb Fantom Drive that does NOT have this power save feature and so it is always spinning, using energy and staying warm--I much prefer this drive. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Versatility at your fingertips! Friday, May 25, 2007 beldenmt from West Palm Beach FL
The coolest thing about this product is that it gives you the option for USB 2 or the Firewire connection. I transfer my data back and forth different computers and at different venues, this product surely gives me the versatility of doing that without having to worry about errors and data loss afterall Fantom Drives are very reliable just like Buy.com!!! 5 of 5 So far, so good! Thursday, May 24, 2007 A Customer from Avalon, CA
Nothing to complain about other than the inconvenience of having to reformat it for my Mac computer, to be expected I guess. Great deal for 500GB Was this review helpful?

So far. Nice styling sitting next to a MacBook Pro. Doing Firewire transfers of video for archival without any problems. Actually liked the fanless design for quietness. Was this review helpful?
