Therefore, Chapter II: Family Reunion is much like its predecessor, featuring some veterans from the first record and a lot of new cuts from new rappers. While there are some really fine moments here, most of them are due to the terrific rapper Souljah Boy, who announces himself as a genuine find. Unfortunately, most of the new rappers and singers aren't quite as enthralling as Souljah Boy, and the album collapses on its own weight after a while. Still, there are enough interesting moments to make it a worthy follow-up to its popular predecessor, even if it doesn't quite gel into a cohesive album. ~ Leo Stanley | | All the Bones and all the Thugs are assembled for a family get-together album featuring Krazie Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Flesh-N-Bone, Thug Queen, Poetic Hustlaz, Felecia, Powder and many others. FAMILY REUNION possesses all the things you love about this type of hip-hop. A few of the standout tracks are "Heart Of It," which was produced by Scant and features Layzie Bone, "Riot," featuring Flesh-N-Bone and "Mo Thuggin'," as performed by Poetic Hustlaz. | | Ultimately, the Mo Thugs sound is everywhere on this album. It has a consistency not found on most compilations or collaboration projects. The production on the album is laced with typical Bone-Thugs-style drum tracks, while the music works without being sample-heavy. With seventeen tracks to choose from, listeners will get plenty of action from this FAMILY REUNION. | Producer: Damon Elliot; Archie Blaine; Anthony Henderson; Karl "K.C." Cousin; MT5; Rick Taylor | Engineer: Erik Nordquiest; Ish Ledesma; Jeff Graham; Mark V.; Paul Marshall; Michael Seifert |

| | Professional Reviews | | Entertainment Weekly (5/29/98, p.76) - "...it's less a sequel to the band's 1996 multi-platinum MO THUGS FAMILY SCRIPTURES than a side project designed to showcase the artists signed to the band's Mo Thugs label. And wouldn't you know it, they've all got that limber-tongued, ragamuffin rap thing down cold." - Rating: BThe Source (6/98, p.160) - 4 Mics (out of 5) - "...These Cleveland cats just don't stop....FAMILY REUNION highlights new talent, with Layzie and Krayzie Bone serving as the disc's backbone..." |
