Features: DVD, Widescreen, Aspect Ratio 1.85:1, Dolby Digital (5.1), Deleted Scenes, Director's Commentary, Extended Scenes, Featurettes, English Subtitled In the most provocative film of the year, Academy Award winner Michael Moore presents a searing examination of the role played by money and oil in the wake of the tragic events of 9/11. Michael Moore blends captivating and thought-provoking footage with revealing interviews while balancing it all with his own brand of humor and satire. "Scorching!" A.O.Scott, The New York Times
 Editor's Note
Academy Award-winning director Michael Moore examines the Bush administration's financial ties to Saudi Arabia and the bin Laden family in FAHRENHEIT 9/11, a well-researched, fast-paced, highly controversial, and important documentary that won the Palme d'Or at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Using actual footage and declassified documents, Moore takes a detailed look into political events both before and after the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, beginning with the polarizing Supreme Court decision that ultimately gave the state of Florida and the 2000 election to George W. Bush. Moore reveals how the U.S. government helped the bin Laden family return to Saudi Arabia immediately after September 11, when all other flights were still grounded; and examines military recruiting techniques in such poor areas as his own hometown of Flint, Michigan. He even attempts to get congressmen to enlist their own sons and daughters into the military. The writer-director also visits with the troops, including at a VA hospital where soldiers are having second thoughts about America's involvement in Iraq, and spends time with a family whose eldest son is fighting in Iraq. FAHRENHEIT 9/11 is a worthy successor to Moore's previous documentaries, ROGER & ME, THE BIG ONE, and BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, once again shining a light on the past, present, and future of the US.

Very myopic view of history. Was this review helpful?

Moore's strong bias from the beginning of the show with personal comments negative towards Bush makes the show hard to believe. While some parts could be true, the strong bias evident throughout the movie makes it hard to believe any of the parts.
The segment with the mother who loses a son in Iraq is one of the strongest parts of the move. Was this review helpful?

After seeing this film, I walked away realizing that what I saw was less an indictment of involving our country in a war the film deems "unnecessary" as it was a very real and poignant document of the consequences of being at war. Mr. Moore gives more voice to the soldiers and to the families of soldiers involved in this war than I have yet to see in any talk show, news program or magazine article I have found. While this film is clearly anti-Bush, I found it to be equally critical of the current news media that has become so homogenized in recent years that it's content has eroded from reporting the news in an unbiased fashion to not actually reporting the news at all. I woke up to watch CNN Headline News (as is my tradition so I can learn what's happened during the night), and once again they briefly spoke of the nightmare in Fallujah (sp?) without any video footage while giving equal time later on to a report on a dog that can ride a surfboard. I don't think I would have noticed this anomaly if I had not seen this film. Regardless of whether you agree with Mr. Moore's opinions, this film is a must see for all Americans because right now it is the only resource we have that shows us the honest (the footage is non-partisan) experience of the tens of thousands of men and women who have been sent away to a place far from home, perhaps never to come back, as well as that of the millions of us who wait for their safe return. Michael Moore has now become the top film maker in the documentary fiction category. Highly respected by the French and honored for his efforts to support the debauchery of Europe over the United States. Mr. Moore has a philosophy as stated in one of his many out-of-country-damn-the-USA speeches where he stated that we citizens of the USA are stupid and evil. He has the unique ability to take his left leaning freedom hating views and through careful editing bring out a story the way he feels it will sell best. Has anyone asked why if this is a documentary why did it go to theaters and not to Public Television? I saw it twice and laughed at both the movie and the audience. Personally I think if you really want to know what's going on you might as well see "Spiderman" instead. If any of this movie were true that would be bad but thankfully it is only a fictional portrayal of Mr. Moores hatred for America. Was this review helpful?

Michael Moore contribution to the documentary market is extremely well done and not by chance has become the most successful film of it's genre in history.
Like an editorial it gives the director's view of the events surrounding 9/11 and thereafter. Given it's unique emphasis it will make you see recent history in a different light. All the facts have been very thoroughly checked and nobody has been able to challenge any of it's content. It's reality told with an attitude.
The movie is very enteraining at times, although given the gravity of events at times also very somber.
All in all this is a must see movie if you dare, it may change your views of recent history. Was this review helpful?

If you visit Michael Moore's Web site, you'll clearly find he has "some" issues with the Bush organization. The film takes many points out of context, and what is doesn't take out of context, it blows out of proportion. It is a shame this filmmaker wasn't held accountable for the content of his film, like television reporters are who report the news. Those who have no idea what is going on in the political world around them will certainly be tricked into believing this propaganda. Was this review helpful?

I felt like I was being brain washed. Very contradictory to real events. Not for a weak mine, very misleading. A very good documentary for a Dictatorial country or for a propaganda newsreel. I am amazed at how Michael was not called to account for this. Very, very slanted to Michaels political agenda. Should have been named Michael Moores Hate of the United States and Bush Was this review helpful?

Entertaining, but misleading in its facts. Much of it was taken out of context. This is the problem with the movie. Was this review helpful?

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. A few times, I thought Mr. Moore went a little over the top in his narration but the foundation of this movie is strong! It is painful to watch at times (due to the sad story that unfolds throughout) but I think it's important that every voting American see this movie before November 2 |
