Eye To The Telescope is the debut album from acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter K.T. Tunstall. Born in Edinburgh and brought up in St Andrews, K.T. comes out of a burgeoning East Coast music scene that has already spawned the likes of The Fence Collective, The Beta Band and Dogs Die In Hot Cars. The album was produced by Steve Osborne (U2/New Order/Doves) and celebrates classic singer-songwriting in the tradition of Rikki Lee Jones, Carole King and Fleetwood Mac with songs that manage to be both intensely personal and incredibly accessible.

A runaway success in the UK, EYE TO THE TELESCOPE, KT Tunstall's debut, finally hit the States in early 2006, a year after its initial release. On this assured 12-song set, the Scottish singer/songwriter mines a charmingly sensitive and intelligent vein of pop/rock that positions her somewhere in between Beth Orton and Sheryl Crow. The key to Tunstall's sound is her resonant and soulful voice, and the album's bold, but never over-the-top production only serves to further enhance her songs. Though the highlights of the disc include the jangly "Another Place to Fall," the eminently catchy "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," and the shuffling "Suddenly I See," the entire record is surprisingly solid, easily ensuring a bright future for Tunstall.

Professional Reviews
Scotland on Sunday 9 of 10
Relentless gigging both solo and with bands in Scotland and beyond, notably a spell in America that appears to have played a substantial part in her musical education, has served to fashion a substantial self made artist. Her writing is warm with an occasional wicked streak, the delivery blessed with an instinctive jazzy timing, and the production laudably minds its own business, if occasionally retreating too far back to basics. - Colin Somerville

Bio
K.T. Tunstall

K.T. Tunstall is a sparkling new songwriter with Chinese blood, a Scottish heart, great legwarmers and a cool name - "well, it's got a bit more attitude than Kate which just says farmer's daughter to me," she laughs. K.T. celebrates classic singer-songwriting in the tradition of Rikki Lee Jones, Carol King and Fleetwood Mac with an articulate, accessible, immediate brew of rootsy sass, wistful quandary and after-hours atmosphere. The latest in a line of outstanding contemporary Scottish songwriters including Texas, Fran Healy, Teenage Fanclub and The Beta Band, K.T.'s unique perspective offers a rare emotionally connecting intensity through it's gripping lyrical bite and heartfelt melody.
