5 of 5 Nothing to it. Installed Easy and works great. Monday, April 13, 2009
Marc from Greenfield, MA

Not much to say here. Had the need for a new video card when my CAM software was upgraded and this just installed easy and works great.

5 of 5 Works as 2nd video card in 64-bit Vista Monday, January 26, 2009
A Customer from Boulder, CO
If you are installing this card as a 2nd card in your system (to, perhaps, run a third or fourth monitor) DO NOT INSTALL THIS CARD WITHOUT TAKING AN IMAGE BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM. Installation of this card in my system caused a permanent blue screen of death (BSOD). --- Fortunatley, I _did_ take an image backup of my system; so it only took me a couple of hors to restore my system (instead of days). I then called EVGA tech support and they were very nice about walking me through the proper way to install this card. NVIDIA now (2009) has universal drivers that support all their cards and it was the installation of those drivers that permitted me to install this card without a hitch. --- I attached a 3rd monitor to my system. For things like MS Word and Second Life, the card does just fine. --- Other than the installation issues, I have VERY happy with this card.

5 of 5 Just what the doctor ordered Saturday, January 24, 2009
Dan from Wisconsin
I acquired an old 2001 vintage HP computer from a friend. They purchased a new one and needed to unload this one. I can see why, the thing was a slug. Would take forever to boot up and surfing the internet was like you were on dial-up. I first upgraded the memory to it's max (only 512 meg). Only a small improvement. So the next thing was to upgrade it from its stock on board video with only 32 megs memory. That's where this card comes into the story. It transformed it into a whole new machine. One that boots up fast, flies on the internet and handles large graphic requirements with ease. The install was fast and without any problems. It will never be a gaming powerhouse but that's fine with me. I don't play those games. And as usual Buy.com delivered it fast and the price was great. After rebate and using a coupon got it for $35. We also added a Samsung wide screen 19" LCD monitor, but that's another review.

5 of 5 Excellent PCI video adapter for wide screen LCD Wednesday, January 21, 2009
Jim from New York, NY
This card isn't the fastest, but it's a GREAT card for the price and works well with wide screen LCD displays. Note that after you install the adapter into your computer, Windows Vista will install its own drivers - the OS will 'detect' an nVidia 6800 video adapter - without asking you to insert the CD. These drivers don't support 1680 x 1050 resolutions, but if you use Windows Update it will download newer drivers that corrects the issue (reboot required). After using the Vista supplied drivers for a while, I decided to install the drivers from the CD-ROM that came with the adapter. The nVidia control panel provides an option to download the latest drivers (WHQL certified) from nVidia's web site. IMHO, the drivers from nVidia are far superior to those provided by Microsoft.

5 of 5 Easy to install and works great! Wednesday, January 14, 2009
A Customer from Burlington, KY
Just like the headline says, I had no trouble installing and it works great! My computer seems to run so much better than it did before, but of course before purchasing this I was running on an integrated video card (bleah). This card is pretty good for anyone who needs to upgrade their computer but doesn't have AGP or PCI-E slots and only PCI. I run Counter-Strike alot better now and I can play Source again as well as Team Fortress 2 (woo!).

4 of 5 Fully satisfactory Monday, January 12, 2009
rbw from Westchester, NY
Installed card in Dim 1100 to allow dual monitors. Upgrade process and functionality as promised; nVidia has a good set of features for controlling a dual monitor setup. Only disappointment was that I was also hoping for speed upgrade over on-board graphics; didn't happen, but believe this to be less the card and more the absence of anything but PCI slots for graphics.

4 of 5 Good card for Vista upgraders Saturday, October 11, 2008
A Customer from Southboro, MA
I needed to update my older Mediacenter PC for Vista. Had a Windows Experience rating of 1.0 before installing this card, 2.0 afterwards and Aero is running with no problems. An economical fix, probably limited at this point by the PCI bus speed rather than the card itself.

5 of 5 Not bad... Tuesday, October 07, 2008
A Customer from Euless, TX
Installed easily, but had some difficulty installing the software as the install program hung the first two times it ran. Installed the card in a Dell Dimension 3000 and noted a marked improvement in graphics intensive apps. It seems to generate a fair amount of heat. My fans run on high most of the time now, but the heat is not excessive. If you are looking to increase the ability of an older machine, this is an inexpensive way to do just that.

5 of 5 No problems Monday, September 08, 2008
A Customer from Magnolia, Tx
I bought this so I could hook a slimline desktop to my big screen HD TV. The desktop only had a VGA port and only a single PCI slot. It worked just fine. I'm running Vista (32bit) and the included drivers worked fine as well. No complaints so far.

5 of 5 Best PCI video card for under $50. Wednesday, July 16, 2008
Nabidavid from Melbourne, FL
If you are in need of a lagecy PCI card, this is a good card to use. I use it for an old PIII 866mhz for running Windows Media Center. I am able to stream video to my High Def TV with no problem (using a DVI-to-HDMI cable)... Thanks to the card. The PIII really isn't made for Media Center, but the speed of this card made it possible. This truly a great card for the old PCI interface. (However, if you have AGP or PCI Express card slots available, it will be much more worth it to find a video card with those interfaces.)

5 of 5 Good Card For the Money Saturday, July 12, 2008
A Customer from Halifax, PA
Installed this card in an older model Dell. It worked fine and was easy for me to install - HOWEVER, I've installed video cards before. It might be a little bit of a challenge if this is your first time to install a graphics card. Brush up on your "system restore" instructions before proceeding. I didn't install the card for gaming, so I can't say how it works for games. I installed the card to enable me to run dual monitors -the computer feeds a projector at my church. Also, Buy.com shipped this amazingly fast. I was surprised when it showed up at my door the day after I ordered it, and I didn't ask for overnight delivery.

5 of 5 Upgraded Dell Integrated Graphics - Works Great Saturday, April 26, 2008
Ron S. from Fort Collins, CO
I bought this card to upgrade the graphics on a Dell desktop PC that only had PCI slots. To install it, I disabled the integrated graphics in the System >> Hardware settings of Windows XP, turned off the computer, installed the card and hooked the monitor up to it. When I restarted the PC, it recognized the new card, and prompted me for the install CD. In all, the installation worked flawlessly. This PC isn't really a gaming machine, but my son plays some games on it, and with the old integrated graphics, they were really slow. This new card has made a noticable difference in the graphics performance of the machine. Well worth the money.

5 of 5 I'm quite pleased with this card Saturday, April 12, 2008
Chris (cld5 from Flagstaff, AZ
I have a three year old HP desktop on which I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium. After upgrading the memory, performance was satisfactory, but I did not have video capabilities to enable the Aero interface (Windows Experience Index score of 1.9 for Aero and 1.0 for 3D). This card seemed to be a good deal and after contacting EVGA, I ordered one. Because of the age of the computer, I was limited to PCI slots and a 250 watt power supply. After installation, the system does produce some, but not all, Aero effects. Now the indices are 2.0 for Aero and 2.4 for 3D. The transparent borders are now there and the 3D window switcher works. That was really all I had hoped for. A bonus would have been the ability to get the Aero screensaver themes (i.e. pan and zoom), but that is not going to happen. Reviewers elsewhere expressed concern about the heat generated by this card, but I have not seen a problem. All in all, an excellent choice for getting a couple extra years out of older computers

5 of 5 Works just fine. Saturday, March 22, 2008
A Customer from New York, New York
Wanted to upgrade Video on Dell system. Only choice was PCI slot. Price and memory were good. Not a gamer so can't say how it works on games. Just use system for everday tasks.

4 of 5 Excellent Card For The Price Friday, February 15, 2008
A Customer from WilkesBarre, PA
Bought this card to install in a slimline tower and to be able to use a 19" Dell wide screen monitor and a Wacom Cintiq 12WX drawing tablet at the same time. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with the low-profile mounting brackets so I'll have to contact the company and order a set, but it can function sans brackets temporarily. The DVI output to the 19" monitor looks fantastic, the colors are very vibrant and the VGA to the Wacom Cintiq looks great as well. Took awhile to get set up properly (at one point I had to hook a 15" wide screen monitor to the integrated video card just to see the desktop because the 2 monitors hooked to the GeForce were black), but once it was set up it works nicely.

5 of 5 Great way to get some Vista aero glass functionali Monday, January 28, 2008
Paul from Houston, Texas
Not too good for gaming, but probably the cheapest & best solution for improving Vista functionality on a business/home office PC. Worked great for me and the DVI output is crystal clear. Money well spent.

5 of 5 Great value for the older PCI technology Thursday, January 24, 2008
RW from New York, NY
Used as an upgrade for my Dimension 2400. This card was a good value (after rebate), PCI bus, DVI and analog video connectors. Installation was easy. Disabled the on-board video (per instructions on Dell Forums). Downloaded updated drivers. Took a little trial and error to get the dual monitors working but finally got it. Very happy with the purchase.

4 of 5 For a PCI card it's as good as you'll get Sunday, January 13, 2008
A Customer from Fairfax, VA
If you are stuck with only PCI slots then get this card. I'm rebuilding a HP dual Xeon server for a video editing workstation and PCI 64-bit 33MHz slots is all I have. Installed with no problems. As usual, Buy.com is the best on price and shipping. I got the card in 2 days while Amazon usually takes 5 days to get it out of the warehouse.

5 of 5 Just the Item It Needs To Be Tuesday, December 11, 2007
Stu from Chalfont, PA
I needed a PCI based video card to do an upgrade of my Dell 2350. I bought a 22' WS flat panel monitor and the on-board video card would not allow me to fully utilize the resolution of the monitor. This video card worked great. After a lot of research for PCI video cards this one had the best set of price and value. I have NO complaints about this video card. I am NOT a gamer so I can't say anything about it's use for that but for a great regular use video card this is just what it needs to be.
