5 of 5 Finally...headphones that perform to my satisfacti Tuesday, August 19, 2008 B.W. from SLC, UT
I researched many types of headphones and finally settled on these. Most in-ear headphones will not stay in my ears (I have small ears) and it's been very frustrating trying to find a pair that I can enjoy while designing on my computer or running a marathon. I upgraded to these Etymotics from a pair of marshmallow JVC’s that were only $15. I paid about $80 for these new ear-canal headphones and justified the expense because I find that I am very productive in my line of work when I am equipped with headphones…and these are truly a very nice pair of headphones.
I’ve had these for a few weeks now and they are clear, crisp, and have a good amount of base. Another enjoyment for me is that I cannot hear anything else when these are in my ears. I looked at noise-cancellation versions, but these are less expensive and actually stay in my ears. They don’t budge. If you are picky about quality sound and want something small and in-ear canal…then look no further.

5 of 5 Etymotic ER6 earphones Saturday, July 07, 2007 A Customer from SW, Okla
Good price and on time free delivery. Properly inserted and sealed, the isolation is very good. (I can hardly hear the tractor running and it is LOUD.) Sound quality (including the base) sounds great to me.
I found insertion to be not as difficult as other reviews describe. Also using a tiny bit of something like chapstick on the rubber ear seals really helps, and works better than wetting them as suggested in the instructions.
If they’re inserted far enough to get a good seal, removal is very difficult since there’s not enough sticking out to get a hold of and pulling on the wire is a no-no. Tying small diameter braided (limp) fishing line between the ear seal and the ear phone body, leaving one end 2-3 inches long so it hangs outside the ear, makes removal a snap. It might look a little strange but my main use will be around the house and while doing tractor work. Clear monofilament line might be less visible, if that matters in your situation. It would be better if Etymotic fixed this, but maybe I’m the only one having trouble.
Bottom line: I’d buy them again and from Buy.com.

5 of 5 These sound clean. Thursday, May 03, 2007 Larry from Lafayette, CO
I listen to classical and rock with these. Instruments are clean and defined. If you listen to others and decide they sound good, then try out these and then listen again to the other phones. Chances are good the others will have a hollow, muddy sound by comparison. Not so with these. Better sounding than the V-Moda Vibes but not as durable looking. Vocalists are there in front of you. Bass is deep enough but not exaggerated. Put these in and turn your music up just a little and you will hear nothing else even if it's kids rockin' out at 90 decibels. Get 'em.
