Escort Passport 9500ix Radar Detector
X-band, K-band, Ka Band, Ku Band, Laser - Highway, Auto-scan, City - 360° Detection

After having a Passport 8500 X50 for several years, I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to the 9500IX. I drive roughly 25,000 miles per year in a company vehicle. My biggest complaint of the 8500 X50 is the constant false alarms. These false alarms desensitized me and had me reaching for the mute button constantly. I couldn't stand this anymore, and decided to upgrade to the 9500IX. Now with the 9500IX, the GPS feature and Autolearn is the best feature hands down. It will automatically learn where the false alarms are and block out that frequency. This is the biggest thumbs up feature in a radar detector. After a few weeks of driving and all these false alarms are stored, I can finally drive in peace and quiet, until an actual RADAR/LASER is hitting me. I also ordered the direct wire SmartCord which really cleans up the install. The Red Light Camera alert is also helpful. This Radar Detector also has the capability to download updated Red Light Camera and Speed Camera database from the Escort website. Hook it up to your laptop, and you are ready to go. I highly recommend this Radar Detector, and cannot say anthing better about it. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I am very impressed with the false signal detection of the Escort 9500ix. The unit will detect false signals like local x band from building security alarms and after 5 times detecting it will auto delete them. No guess work just plug in and go.

It took less than five minutes to tear it out of the box mount it on the windshield, plug it in...and pickup the GPS signal. Pros: Configuration options are more than adequate; It successfully learns to ignore false alarms in specific locations; and upon actual alarm, displays my speed. Cons: Uuuum, the cord could be not a coil plus longer and I wish the digital display could be configured to always show my MPH (in place of mode - aka Auto). Overall two thumbs up!

As of 4/1/2009, look no further - this is the best you can buy without having to permanently modify your car. Would be cool if it had an option to plug in a laser blocker.

This is my second Escort radar detector and this one has more features and can be updated via the usb connections. (I use my laptop as the detector has to be plugged into the 12 volt socket in the car to have power) Works perfectly and I get very little false alarms. The box did not have any packing materials and if it did not have a hard travel case it might have arrived damaged.

Right out of the box and no need to change the factory defaults. Escort has everything the way it should be. The learning feature greatly reduces false alarms. Had an Escort x50. This is much better. It has already paid for itself by finding several potential tickets! I've had several radar detectors over the years and so far, this is the best.

Almost "plug-n-play" - set a couple preferences and it is great. Within a couple passes of stores and stationary points of annoyance - it stores the spots as false and distance for real threats is very good.
