After several years of owning a Whistler Pro-73, I finally decided to upgrade to the Escort Passport 8500 x50. Boy, what a difference. The Escort has a fantastic range providing plenty of warning for those unseen speed traps. I'm also ecstatic about the lack of false alerts. My old Whistler radar detector was a lot like the boy who cried wolf. It went off so often that after a while I hardly paid any attention to it. I'm very pleased with the options on the Escort Passport. You can toggle on and off any radar band you'd like. I personally deactivated the X-band detection to minimize false alerts. There are also a variety and display and alert options as well. While it may be a bit pricey, the Escort Passport 8500 x50 is well worth the money. I'd recommend it to anyone.
