Hailed by Roger Ebert as "one of America's strangest and most brilliant documentary filmmakers" (Chicago Sun-Times), Errol Morris (The Fog of War) brings his unrivalled talents to the small screen for a stylized series of intimate interviews with a unique and fascinating array of people. With the aid of his "Interrotron" an innovative camera device Morris invented to maintain merciless eye contact with his subjects the Oscar -winning* director puts his odd assortment of eclectic characters and atypical topics under the microscope to produce "revelatory, whip-smart television" (Baltimore City Paper).System Requirements: Running Time 491 MinFormat: DVD MOVIE

Editor's Note

Errol Morris is one of the most insightful documentarians to ever work within the genre, with his Ocar-winning film, THE FOG OF WAR, finally allowing him some deserved exposure to a mainstream audience. In 2000 he took a step into the world of television, producing an innovate series called FIRST PERSON. Morris's quest for innovation in his chosen field knows no bounds, so for this show he wheeled out his "Interrotron" camera, designed so that subjects have to keep constant eye contact with the somewhat intimidating director. The series of interviews he conducted make up the basis for the show, with the guest subjects offering some remarkable musings on topics such as the hunt for a giant squid; a mother's unique attempt to come to terms with her son's suicide; the devious activities of credit card companies; a potentially perilous encounter with the Unabomber; and many others.

EM from aliso viejo, ca

before there was reality tv as we now know it, there was first person. have long been an errol morris fan but had never seen first person. watched some google video and youtube rip-offs and then bought this dvd on Buy.com and it's made for one of best dvd purchases ever. morris finds the gems in society and brings the very best story-telling out them with regard their own lives -- these are folks who do not have to fictionalize their lives or act it up to make it interesting. as a documentary series, you are at once bewildered and adoring of morris' talent. the intervieweees cover the gamut of emotional responses -- but they are real and prove themselves exceptional through their ordinariness and extraordinariness all at once. have i oversold it? just buy it.
