| | | "Blu-Ray Disc, Beyond High Definition." Features: DVD, Widescreen, Aspect Ratio 2.40:1, English, French, Spanish, Subtitled Over three decades following his untimely death, Bruce Lee remains the movies' supreme martial arts star. His masterful final film, Enter the Dragon, stands the test of time as the most beloved martial arts epic in film history. This box office hit takes Lee to the island fortress of criminal warlord Han, whose martial arts academy covers up opium smuggling and prostitution activities. To avenge the death of his sister, Lee infiltrates the stronghold and enters Han's brutal tournament-a breathtaking visual feast of competitions fusing skills in karate, judo, tae kwon do, tai chi chuan and hapkido, staged by Lee himself. What a kick! "A classic of its genre that must be seen by any self-respecting movie buff." Christopher Null, FilmCritic.com "Arguably the most entertaining, colorful and spectacular kung-fu movie ever made." Danny Peary, Guide for the Film Fanatic "...it's still great entertainment and remains a first-class action thriller in first-class style." John J. Puccio, DVD Town "Almost perfect Kung Fu film... " Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide "Spectacular fighting sequences..." VideoHound's Golden Movie Retriever
 Editor's Note
Bruce Lee was immortalized in his films as a martial arts master and first-class entertainer. ENTER THE DRAGON was the first martial arts film that American audiences had witnessed, and was actually produced in both Hong Kong and Hollywood. Interestingly, ENTER THE DRAGON also set the stage for non-traditional, culturally specific narratives to make their way into Hollywood.Bruce Lee plays a kung fu master recruited by a foreign government to infiltrate the island of a megalomaniac martial artist named Han. Han's bodyguard is also found to have killed Lee's sister, giving Lee a personal vendetta to fight for. The Hall of Mirrors sequence towards the end of the film is now famous, as are Lee's incredibly gymnastic martial arts abilities. This trend-setting film holds up as an entertaining, engaging action movie, more than 30 years later.

| | Professional Reviews | Entertainment Weekly "...One of the finest kung-fu films ever made, thanks to Lee..." -- Rating: A 05/29/1998 p.82USA Today "...The most popular martial arts pic ever..." 05/22/1998 p.6E Rolling Stone "If kung fu is now the standard badass language, ENTER THE DRAGON -- featuring Lee's great slow-burn stare -- is the first grammar lesson." 06/10/2004 p.103 San Francisco Chronicle 8 of 10 Enter the Dragon may not be a perfect movie in the ultimate scheme of things, but it has become legendary because it was Bruce Lee's last completed film, and it is also a form of testament...Movies may become classics for many reasons, only one of which is film craftsmanship. Another is that they preserve the spirit of a great star, which is the case with Enter the Dragon...Enter the Dragon goes far beyond the philosophical, of course. Its best sequences, and the only real reason for seeing it again, involve Lee's phenomenal physical and emotional presence...The movie is one of those lurid '70s spectacles in the tradition of a James Bond thriller. It has an extravagant villain and involves international skullduggery at a martial-arts tournament on an island fortress near Hong Kong. - Bob Graham DVD Verdict 9 of 10 I consider reviewing Enter The Dragon to be both an honor and a challenge, both for the same reason: Enter The Dragon is a classic, the zenith of martial arts movies. Its star, Bruce Lee, was an amazing man, not just for his fighting prowess (though could anyone dare claim to be better?) but also for his philosophy. Bruce Lee was to martial arts what Charlie Chaplin was to comedy, Babe Ruth to baseball, or Mozart to music: he didn't invent it or define it...he perfected it...Enter The Dragon should be a part of any movie collection, particularly of those who enjoy pure action...If you are interested in learning more about Bruce Lee, there are two books I would highly recommend. First is his book, "The Tao Of Jeet Kune Do." Sure, you could look at it as a martial arts training manual, but then you'd miss 99% of what he is saying. Martial arts are about more than just fighting...it is a philosophy and a way of life. - Mike Jackson
